cybermike 04-29-2013 03:27 PM

Kevin bacon!

MiLo 04-29-2013 04:13 PM

harvey 04-29-2013 04:18 PM

waiting for the season finale :thumbsup

kane 04-29-2013 04:20 PM

I have been on and off with it. The first few episodes rocked then when he started having trained special forces teams, helicopters and all kinds of stuff available to him I started to feel like it was getting bad. I stuck with it and the last few episodes were pretty good. However, I just read that the renewed it for next season so I am curious to see how this ends and what the idea for next season is. I can't see them dragging this story line out for another 15 episodes.

Hell ya, pretty good show so far :thumbsup

I was hooked at the beginning, but I have a love/hate relationship with this stupid show. There should be a drinking game and you could take a drink every time a dumb FBI agent, cop or state trooper gets killed.

Those first 2 episodes were awesome, but it all seems very repetitive now.

ha ha, damn right, with my wife we have a joke "did they go to the FBI Academy for Retarded and Mentally Challenged People"? There was one special episode where Roderick and his gang captured the FBI agent and they localized them being in another town. So, Kevin Bacon says "we're only 90 minutes away" and they go alone, no police support, nothing, while the guy is being killed.... IN ANOTHER TOWN!!! :1orglaugh

But that's part of the fun too, like "what kind of moronic movement will they do now?"

Darkhorse 04-29-2013 04:41 PM

Watching it myself, something tells me Joe is going to go out with a bang. It is a little repetitive each week, but most shows are in one way or another.

fris 04-30-2013 04:23 AM

dont know how a second season is going to come though from the finale even though it was renewed

brassmonkey 04-30-2013 08:49 AM

didnt like the ending. trimming the budget i see

Theo 04-30-2013 09:26 AM

I saw the 1st episode last night, not bad

bronco67 04-30-2013 09:35 AM

After watching this show, it made me realize the quality difference between the big four -- NBC, FOX, ABC and CBS vs the cable networks like HBO, Showtime, FX, and AMC.

Cable is on a whole other level.

That finale was no where near good as the spectacular pilot episode of The Following. They hooked me with it, and then slogged out some 'ol bullshit for an entire season and I got suckered into staying with it, hoping for something brilliant at the end.

big difference because of restrictions :2 cents:

J. Falcon 04-30-2013 09:40 AM

I think the problem is that the network is worried about attracting as many viewers as possible. To do so they try to appeal to everyone. This means they don't want to offend some people or turn some people away etc. Whenever you try to appease everyone you end up with something that can be a mess.

With many of the good cable shows they seem to be more interested in putting together a great show and letting it attract and audience even if it means the audience is smaller.

brassmonkey 04-30-2013 03:19 PM

The Following? The Not Watching It.

bronco67 05-01-2013 07:13 AM

They should call it The Stabbing...because almost every character on the show was stabbed at one time or another, including most of the cult victims. So much stabbing on that show.

pornsprite 05-01-2013 08:19 PM

I have watched every episode of The Following. I have been waiting for the Ryan's neighbor to do her thing for a while now. I can't wait to see the next season if it gets picked up for another season.

I read a few days ago that it has been picked up for another season. James Purefoy (who plays Joe Carroll) did an AMA on Reddit the other day and said he has not been told what his role may be for next season. I have a feeling he will show up in some flashbacks.

it was more or less the motto of the story, to kill someone with their own hands and feel how life vanishes from the other body, that's why there was a lot of stabbing, hitting people with hammers, punching, suffocation and such

Don't forget Kevin Bacon's weekly bad guy shooting quota.

I did like that one scene when Westin was about to be killed (by stabbing), and Kevin Bacon came up from behind and shot about 5 people in the back with no warning. That was very Jack Bauer.

that's exactly the point: the cult killed by hand, the FBI by shot guns. I think that's what they missed: to get deep into the psychological motivation to do things, including join a cult, killing people, be ready to die for no reason and everything to be a chapter in a book. The psychology behind it would be amazing if developed. As it was, sometimes it felt ridiculous. Entertaining nevertheless.

btw, on the same track, I'm watching Hannibal. Way better acted, one million times better script and it has everyone's beloved psychopath: Hannibal Lecter. What else could you ask for? :thumbsup

I thought they were really doing some cool stuff for the first few episodes -- especially with the trio of cult members. The 2 guys posing as "the gays next door" was really interesting. It's possible the lie would become the truth after 2 years of pretending, and they explored it pretty well. And the gravity of taking a life(for Jason) was made to be a big deal, which it is something you forget when watching shows where people get killed left and right. They made you think it has to be really difficult to stick a knife blade into somebody.

Then it slowly fell apart for me.

I'm going to check out Hannibal this weekend.

as far as new shows go, nothing has been better for me than The Americans. It doesn't hit you over the head with anything and they nailed the feeling of the early 80's.
