Paxum - Is It Really That Expensive?

So it's $45/year for a card plus $50 for them to send you a card and this is the only way to use their service?

I have a sponsor (sapphiccash) that only pays with paxum unless you get up to $500. They owe me $275 but there is no way in hell I am paying those fees or dealing with any payment processor that is that fucking greedy.

2013 04-29-2013 04:34 PM

also if you lose your card you have to pay another $50

georgeyw 04-29-2013 04:35 PM

Thought it was only $44.95 for the card? Never got charged for it to be sent afaik.

EDIT

Just double checked, shipping is not charged.

signupdamnit 04-29-2013 04:42 PM

To be fair to Paxum they probably have to deal with their bank who charges them outrageous fees which they pass along. But, yeah, good point. For most U.S. webmasters who just want to receive payments from sponsors Paxum is a waste of money and an added complication. This is why I voice my opinion about Paxum here. I don't want sponsors to think we all want Paxum. Many of us don't. I still prefer check, ACH, or for high dollar amounts wires. In my opinion you should have to pay me extra to use Paxum. It's a lot of hassle and additional fees.

Why don't they use payoneer? It's so much cheaper.

This is correct.

Plus yearly fee of about $50 so it's $100 just to set up an account. Even $50 would be too high. It's insanity.

Arnox 04-29-2013 05:14 PM

You're not required to have a Paxum card in order to have a Paxum account, I'm fairly sure.

Just have an account and offer trading services for people who need Paypal/Money Bookers / etc.

It doesn't cost anything to create an account.

But then I will have to pay wire transfer fees, right?

You can have them cut a check . . . I think.

helterskelter808 04-29-2013 07:39 PM

Wasn't Epassporte's fee about $35/$40 a year?

I'm not comparing the two, just saying it's nothing new. Payoneer has a monthly fee.

It wasn't that high. Payoneer has no monthly fee

lonerunner 04-29-2013 07:41 PM

i dont understand catch with card, isnt it used for fast transactions? Last time i think it was 4 months ago i got money via check and only transaction i paid is 5euro must for every check transaction from my bank. Paxum was free to create and use and they send check for free also

Yes, I've done this and it worked out great :thumbsup

I don't use the card because it would make taxes too confusing. Best to just transfer out with cheque or wire into business account to keep things simple.

They must have singled me out then. I seem to remember paying $5 for something, plus $35 for something else. I wasn't aware Paxum had a monthly fee.

lol, you quoted me before I changed the text.

helterskelter808 04-29-2013 07:50 PM

^ What you changed it to is wrong.

Supz 04-29-2013 08:01 PM

technically you do not have to get the card. So there is no fees. If you can find something that you need to pay for that accepts Paxum. Traffic, Hosting, Design etc. You dont have to pay any fees. Just Paxum to Paxum transfers.

I see people already wrote this.

2013 04-29-2013 08:07 PM

paxum is alright i think they will be around a while , yes some of the shit is rediculous i use mostly payoneer they are rock solid and I never had to update anything in about 10 years.

So much misinformation in this thread...

We do not have an account fee.
We have a mastercard fee that is 100% optional and that is $44.95 per year.
We do not have monthly fee's
We do have wire fee's
We do have ach fee's

Paxum accounts are 100% free. The only yearly charge we have is for the mastercard that you do not have to get. We have plently of other withdraw options that are cheaper than wire.

All of our fee's are 100% transparent and not hidden or set up differently for each program

Do you have a yearly account maintenance fee?

There is no annual maintenance fee for a Paxum eWallet Checking Account, Business or Personal.

Manfap 04-29-2013 11:42 PM

My bank charges me 36 euros a year for a debit card, so the fees are about standard.

No...there is NO $50 yearly fee...I don't know what makes you think that or keep saying that! LOL!

Supz 04-29-2013 11:47 PM

The Answer Is 'No' - It is not really that expensive.

Socks 04-30-2013 12:04 AM

Paxum hates me, they only make $5 every time I request a payment (by check). Since many sponsors charge less to pay via paxum than to send a check, I might actually profit sometimes on that $5 fee, or have it covered.

LouiseLloyd 04-30-2013 12:32 AM

If you have a blue pen you will be accepted to the epassporte2 club.

They have a service called electronic fund transfer. It costs 5 bucks to send funds to an US account. Much safer and cheaper than using an offshore debit card. Have you ever looked into Payoneer's fees and exchange rates? They are not cheap at all.
