Minte: Time to setup for Biological 3D Printing

If you don't already have a spot in your factory for biological 3D printing, now is the time to start drawing one up...

All the plastics and metal fabrication in the world will be pennies compared to the market for spare limbs and organs in the next several decades.
People may 'want' to play Guitar Hero, but they 'need' a functioning new liver ;)

can you make me up some longer legs while you're at it?

Saw on CBS Sunday Morning last weekend that Cornell scientists are printing human soft tissues, like ears. Incredible. could lead to huge breakthroughs in reconstructive surgeries.

Is anyone regulating the biological parts industry yet? Wouldn't seem to fall under the purview of the FDA...

Sent you an email last week my man. In addition to that email, I have another plastics project I'd like to discuss.

I dont think you could just start creating body parts on a factory floor. You would need lab conditions and sterile sterile rooms.

Could you resend, I don't see anything in that inbox..
On that other project we talked about a while back. We are looking at a much higher tech vertical and autotool changer machining center. As soon as the team here decides what they want I probably will get one on order.

Probably just the insurance carriers... I can only imagine that the cost of liability insurance will be limited to the very deep pockets people.

Good to know. Keep me in the loop on that please.

I'm currently exploring lease options on 4 axis Haas VF3 machines.

Email has been resent. :)

If they do waivers for experimental procedures (much the way the IVF industry now works) they end up with very low liability to any potential customer beyond blatant negligence or malfeasance. The danger is the 'public good' being impaired... which is normally the space for an agency to have oversight, but I don't think any of them do on this sort of thing yet.

Brave new world...

My second thought was the insurance costs.
