[BIZ] CC billing no longer viable on OLD paysites - what should I do to monetise them?
 

I have a couple of paysites that only have a handful of members left, and I've just received the email from Verotel asking for the 500 EUR compliance fee. This fee would most likely exceed the combined yearly income of the sites, so there's no point continuing with credit card billing.

The content needs to be somewhat protected (not crawlable by search engines) so at the least I'd need to have a registration/login process, but apart from that... what are some ideas for monetising the site? What could I do to make someone signing up for free provide some value?

(The reason the sites are still up is because they have some killer SE positions - I make 10,000%+ more $ with text links to programs, than with actual paysite signups...)

It's all images, which is one reason I don't want Googlebot crawling all over everything. Oldest paysite dom was registered in 2000 or 2001.

Charge micro payments with Bitcoin. Get some Bitcoin seo going to get the right visitors.

Did think about Bitcoin, but given that the site makes only low double figures monthly it's probably not worth it.

I guess the question is less about making $ and more how to present the signup so that it's still a little.... um, "difficult" to gain access... rather than just a free for all. Credit card billing turns out to be a fairly good filter for junk visitors. :1orglaugh

I see... I can put your affiliate code on gallery pages as well. Just need to customize the code a bit but will work.

i.e. http://www.judoporn.com/galleries/ve...lery-1512.html would show the first few small thumbs just like that. Surfer lands on that page first you get cookie set and then if they join... your sale.

sell them to a network with multiple sites on one ccbill / verotel account so it spreads the burden. if theyve got some members then they have some value including the content

I'm in the same situation. Hosting and the new Verotel fee would = the annual revenue.
