Star trek "into the darkness" review
It serves the purpose, but i kind a got impression how they recycled old movies/tv series into one piece.Still, visual work is amazing.

people take things too seriously...
i dont give a crap as long the movie per se is good last night i saw Iron Man 3 - and while surely not the best movie i have ever seen, i was still very much entertained and really liked it then i go to IMDB and people write crap reviews because the Mandarin is not like the Mandarin from the comic books bla bla bla... i dont give a shit, i never read the comics anyways |

I'm a huge Star Trek fan and still watch the original series whenever it's on. I know it borders on campy but it's still good TV to me :-)

Most of the next generation (the Roddenberry ones anyway) were rehashes of original series stories for the most part. Same with the movies. Vger was just nomad all over again and Star Trek 5(6?) was a rehash of the search for Eden, except this time across the barrier and some half brother of Spock was leading them to God.. etc. Wouldn't have expected much different really. They've done so many cool stories; might as well.

Star Trek was always "reality based" meaning, the people in the film are real human beings. (no offense to Vulcans) Which is what gives the series a real sense and we can relate to it.
The trailer looks like an action movie and they are turning Kirk and Spock into action heroes. Jumping off cliffs, etc... doing stunts that are not humanly possible, for shock value. I haven't seen it yet, but I fear they are losing the Star Trek "feel" and turning the series into Mission Impossible 5 with space ships and aliens. I hope the new movie has a script. Remember "City on the Edge of Forever" written by Harlan Ellison?..... now THAT is Star Trek. These new movies don't come near the intellect or substance as the old series did. Just a lot of flash and explosions for all the kids lit up on sugar to zone out on. |
