Hosting video?

The video gallery is beginning to place too much of a load on my server, so I guess I need to off load it? I only run a small niche WordPress based site (www.esinem.com) with mostly my own content, so it's not a massive load but sometimes peaks cause an issue.

I'd like to grow the site and add e-commerce so my question is, do I just find a way to off load the video assuming this can be done seamlessly without too much hassle (and with existing users not having to log in again) or do I go for a proper grown up solution for the whole site? Should I look at a cloud or fully hosted version? My feeling is the WordPress is unlikely to be a long term solution as there are too many variables with different plugins, server side stuff etc. I'd feel more comfortable with a single butt to kick if things aren't working. Is there any good adult site software that will not be too painful to transfer my members, galleries and articles (blog posts) from?

Any advice welcome.

I ave looked around on your site and i do not see any videos that can be accessed without being a member of the site. If you have lots of members i am sure it will be hard on the server if it is not really a big package. As for hosting please contact me i am certain i can help you with that for a good price. We also support third party scripts and install them for you.

As for the script you can use to offer a good video solution i can suggest mechbunny, predator or a free solution smartcj

contact me so i can assist you further.

Thanks for your reply. I have thousands of free members but a relatively small number of paying members who have unlimited access to galleries etc. Some are videos are public and often draw high numbers of views. Where possible, I have tried to host these elsewhere, e.g. tutorials unlisted on YouTube/Vimeo.

wordpress can handle the load that is not the problem, but the videos slow down your server. Maybe it is best to get in contact and see what would be your best option.

move it to Digital Ocean VPS with 20GB SSD disk space and 1TB bandwidth for just $5

or use some CDN (but that will cost you lot more than those $5) :)

Sounds suspiciously cheap. I have always been of the opinion that there's not such thing as a (nearly) free lunch.

The odd thing is that I have only a handful of full members with access to all videos/photos/articles but a lot of free ones with very limited access. My hosting company (Eurovps) keep suggesting even more powerful upgrades...1st a Xen server...then ngix (allegedly 400-600 concurrent user capability)...the latest is installing Varnish (allegedly 10,000 concurrent user capability!) Given that I have about 400-600 visitors in 24hrs never mind concurrent, it looks like they are just throwing hardware/software at it to reduce the symptoms without looking for the cause. They are installing a 12gb RAM upgrade on a test basis.

I'm wondering if Wordpress is being slowed down due to inefficient plugins or poorly optimised server. I am being increasingly drawn to a hosted solution like PornCMS. I have heard good things about it and having one butt to kick is always attractive. :thumbsup

WordPress likely won't slow down your video delivery as the videos are simply links to external files within the WordPress framework. If you are happy with EuroVPS other than the bandwidth issue, you should move your video files to a cloud server. I like Rackspace's Cloud Server platform because it scales and charges based on bandwidth used and offers competitive pricing compared to Amazon's AWS. You can then link to these external files from your WordPress site.

Most larger sites host their high-bandwidth content on separate servers from their general site for the sake of not slowing down their main site components due to excessive bandwidth usage from streaming content.

I'm also having nightmares with the YourMembers plugin and its link to Zombaio, so site speed is not my only issue. I simply don't have the time and knowledge to keep WordPress, the plugins, my server etc. optimised. I need an easy solution,

What do you guys think about moving to PornCMS's hosted solution to address both problems?

:2 cents:

I can help you tweak your Wordpress to work well with Zombaio, I run a ton of sites with WP/Zombiao and also help you move the vids to a cloud CDN that can just stream the vids in and allow you to run the VPS to host your WP install :)

Message me :) Would love to help:thumbsup

Try getting a VPS account at Micfo.com. This is the best hosting company that I know of. You can get 30% off with "DAN30OFF" coupon code.
