very dangerous

Rochard 05-20-2013 02:41 PM

I have a friend who lives in the area... He is on Facebook saying it's pretty bad there.

crockett 05-20-2013 02:44 PM

The damage in that video is pretty insane.. Reminds me of the damage that happened from Hurricane Andrew. I'll be surprised if there aren't 100 or more killed, by looking at that damage.

edit..

Some live coverage..

watch live sweden race riot, they attackt he fireman and stole the hose lol

baryl 05-20-2013 03:25 PM

Used to live in Oklahoma and dealt with this every spring. I've been in an F3 and that was scary as hell but rode that out in a gas station bathroom.

There's nothing you can do for an F5 tornado though; you're pretty much fucked if you don't have an underground shelter.

brassmonkey 05-20-2013 04:38 PM

first two confirmed dead

baryl 05-20-2013 04:58 PM

I still have family there but they live on the opposite side of town so they're okay but streaming the local news in OKC it sounds like 10-20 or so kids in that elementary school died. Fucking awful.

Rochard 05-20-2013 05:07 PM

All towns should have shelters and prepare for the worst. You never know when it will hit, but when it does it takes you by surprise.

I always said "it could never happen here" but it did. A tanker train full of propane caught fire, and when they explode it can flatten several square miles. They evacuated half the town and people had no where to go - all of the local hotels filled up quickly. Hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, fires... Be prepared!

Not to mention this is the 5th time this town has been hit in 15 years. Maybe God does hate Christians.

Hate to be political but it's true. OK is probably the reddest state in the country yet they're the first in line with their tin cups out begging for some of that federal cash when it suits them.

They will get their FEMA aid as they should and then the very next week they'll cry to cut FEMA funding after they have theirs.

nah this town was built where tornadoes frequent yearly. you would think there would be some kind of warnings before. there are more and more people and towns are being built in the area where tornadoes would come but nobody lived in that area. there is a documentary on it. damn toll is 37 now

Shit happens everywhere. I lived in Japan for while where at any moment with zero notice there could be a killer earthquake that destroys the city.

I dont think the sirens went off... In a video I watched I only heard the sirens after the tornado was in the town.. Going to go watch it again

They go on and off. It's not a constant blast for hours.
Thing is, they are so trigger happy on those sirens that there's a bit of a "cried wolf" scenario. They turn them on if there's a tornado 20 miles away so people don't always take them seriously.

PornoMonster 05-20-2013 08:34 PM

Not till 1:19 into the video do you even hear the warnings

Yep. and the streets and side roads are Lined with storm chasers these days.

While Tornadoes typically go North East, smaller ones tend to dance around, and the debris flying at 200MPH is what kills injures lots of people.

They even have Tour vans that people pay hundreds to thousands a week to ride around in.. Talk about a high profile vehicle..

It is only going to take one to jump and wipe out all these people to get this crazy fad to stop...

EddyTheDog 05-20-2013 09:43 PM

No.
The Joplin,Missouri tornado took 161 people.
Joplin is about 2-3 hours north of Moore/Oklahoma City.

Funny thing is sooooo many people say andrew was not that bad and not as devastating as it really was. Lots of truths have been covered about that storm.
