Letter from Peter Acworth, CEO, Kink.com concerning 2257 trial fundraising

Dear Industry Leaders,

It is clear that the FSC case against 2257 will go trial in June (next month!). This is a critical stage and I am writing to ask for your help. This is our chance to come together as an industry and defeat this legislation, or have it modified into something workable.

Due to the current liberal administration and lack of 2257 inspections, there is a dangerous sense of apathy about this issue. If (when) a conservative administration comes to power, 2257 in its current form can be used against us, as it is virtually impossible to comply with 100%. I remember only too recently the 2257 inspections under Bush/Ashcroft. There is a very real possibility that such a situation could repeat itself, and the time to defeat the law is now.

Critical funding is now needed to cover travel, accommodation costs for our attorneys, the plaintiffs and our expert witnesses. Again, this critical hearing is happening in June and we need the money immediately.

Please give whatever you can: http://2257donate.com. Kink.com has donated 20K thus far, thank you so much to other donors Phil Harvey of Adam and Eve ($30k) and Jonathan Crutchley of Online Buddies ($25k) in particular.

Thank you in advance,

Peter Acworth, CEO, Kink.com

Will you donate for this?

How soon before Paypal freezes the donation account and the funds?

Redrob 05-20-2013 08:54 PM

I have in the past, and just today, mailed two checks for $500 each to help two good friends defray their personal expenses making the trip. I will continue to do what I can to help.

Why they would freeze it?

Me, too, just last week; wish it could have been much more, but piracy is killing me!

Friends, Please realize that the trial starts on Monday. Yes, this Monday.

davecummings 06-01-2013 08:33 AM

We can still donate at any time (now; during trial, post-trial; etc), towards defeating the hassles of 2257, right?

davecummings 06-01-2013 09:35 AM

Regardless of your answer to my above question, am I correct is assuming that the BEST time to donate is immediately so that the expenses of trial, witnesses, travel to and accommodations in Philadelphia, and attorney expenses, etc can be more efficiently planned and carried out?

Redrob 06-01-2013 05:59 PM

Not too late to donate. Any amount, any time is deeply appreciated.
