Google?s fourth Penguin update ? what the company is calling Penguin 2.0 ? hit last night, and less than 24 hours later we?re already getting a first chance to look at what sites might be considered ?losers? in terms of search visibility.

In a nutshell, the list includes: porn sites, game sites and big brands like Dish.com, the Salvation Army, CheapOair and Educational Testing Service (yes, ETS, the company that makes a lot of those standardized tests you probably took as a child).

Hit them harder Google. Send the fuckers to page 50. :)

Its good to see a lot of the scumbags drop like CS's morning poo.

cybermike 05-23-2013 01:33 PM

Yes. But -30% isn't enough. It ought to be -80% and page 50. :upsidedow Seriously after many of us went through hell when we have no paid links or campaigns it's nice to see a little bit of justice. These guys bought paid links. It's not hidden. It's out in the open. They deserve the penalties. They gamed the system to get where they are. On top of that much of the content on their sites are still basically stolen.

I noticed the ones above dropped right away. They went from #1 - #3 on some terms I monitor to page 2 or 3. A couple of other tubes gained like that fuck-tube.com or whatever the hell it is. But pinterest and Youtube really gained. I'd rather see terms going to Youtube and Pinterest than tubes with full scenes. It's better for paysite sales. Far better.

TheSquealer 05-23-2013 01:43 PM

Results always move around with updates. Pages disappear and come back. Domains disappear and come back. They move down, they move back up and business goes back to normal.

I guess i just never realized how fucking retarded you are. Now that I have, its stunning to think i missed it.

Surfers are looking for tubes, videos and full length videos. Search engines primary objective is to give surfers what they are looking for. Not a shock that you don't get that.

It's too early to say that big tubes were hit. Every big Google update results in huge SERP fluctuations in the first days/weeks and after all "Penguin 2.0" is not a one-time algo change, but rather a few month process.

So I wouldn't be surprised if the big tubes will gain another SERPs and "high quality sites" will get destroyed completely.

Simply for accuracy, allow me to state that it doesn't actually 'drop'...

I catch it in my hand, so as not too waste it... :2 cents:

But do carry on...

I wouldn't be surprised if they are bitching to Matt Cutts as we speak. If you have any messages from them within the last three years asking about purchasing links on your sites you ought to forward it (with a note that you declined) to Matt Cutts and the abuse address with the full headers intact. They deserve it. They really do.

I noticed this too for the serps I watch closest. Dailymotion, Youtube, Pinterest, Twitter, Amazon, all got huge bumps. Even an Alexa site info page for a domain featuring my primary keyword got a top-10 result. From a surfer's perspective I'd have to call those results "low quality", but c'est la vie!

slavdogg 05-23-2013 02:11 PM

yup pinterest dailymotion youtube is now replacing all porn results

JosephFM 05-23-2013 02:12 PM

They will survive.

They are still up there in page 1 with the usual scrappers and stuff.

The only difference I see is the URL cluster thing he talked about which is good because you don't get the same website over and over in the search results.

DomP_nl 05-23-2013 02:13 PM

anyone else also noticed a difference in their adwords placing?

Klen 05-23-2013 02:14 PM

Hmm strange but i still see pornhub as first result on keyword porn

New update gives a big boost to "authority" sites (which are reviewed and assigned manually by google editors).

I see it too. I think they lost some positions on niche and long tail phrases. It will be interesting to see alexa in a month or two. 30% across that whole network is a difference of many millions a day of visits.

It's nice to see these guys get fucked for a change. On top of all the link buying and the stolen content they've also been heavily interlinking between sites in their network. Why should doing that hurt you or I but not hurt them? It never was right.

I recall Matt Cutts specifically mentioned porn when announcing penguin 2.0 and what would be coming. I'd like to think these changes were done on purpose and not fully the result of a automatic algorithm.

seeandsee 05-23-2013 03:30 PM

One tube down, second up, what a result

TheSenator 05-23-2013 03:34 PM

Congrats. It's great to see someone get it who actually deserves it for a change. :)

mineistaken 05-23-2013 03:49 PM

So which porn sites gained if those lost? Or did they lose mostly to non porn sites (speaking about those keywords that may be either adult or not).

The Porn Nerd 05-23-2013 04:49 PM

I'm seeing significant traffic increases today.
(And thus, sales.)
