It's pronounced jif because the files load in a jiffy. I call it gif anyway.

illogical languages are always funny. I always pronounced it as in "gift" but logically, if I think of "a, b, c, d, e, f, g" then there's no question. Also, since it's an acronym, you should read it just as this guy says now. However, since English is one of those illogical languages, anything can be pronounced in very different ways, hence the discussion. And no matter what this guy says, it will always be a GIF (as in GIFT) for me, or even a HIF (if I read it in Spanish), never a jif
