Frozen Waves [pic]

So how does that work ?? :question

Phoenix 05-28-2013 12:38 PM

I think its a piece of ice, that has been carved out by the water lapping up against it constantly.

harvey 05-28-2013 12:43 PM

God likes to use liquid nitrogen just for fun :thumbsup

PR_Phil 05-28-2013 12:44 PM

you can also see that the picture is exaggerating the curvature, as the actual water is curved quite a bit as well.

CT-Content 05-28-2013 01:04 PM

Why is there a breakline in between the bottom and the top curved section?
Hate to really say it but I call bullshit.

Link plz

and they're extremely different form the OP pic. That pic you posted happens from a quite rare phenomenon known as "PSG", acronym for Photoshop Glaciation :thumbsup

Funny you mention this now. I just got an email recently containing a bunch of "amazing frozen wave and striped iceberg" pics, supposedly taken on lake Winnipeg. It didn't add up for me as I know a fair bit about that lake seeing as I'm from here and all. So I did a quick search, and sure enough the original email going around from 2008 reported those same pics as being from Lake Michigan, another falsehood.

They are real, and are definitely from the antarctic region roughly 1700 miles south of Capetown S Africa.
