Almost 6 million grams. That is pretty amazing as that is probably close to the number of users in the US.
|
I'm sure local dealers will use any excuse to raise their prices, but the guys who owned this coke lost MAYBE $5 million, not almost a billion. 13,000 lbs. = 5909 kilos. I personally could buy a key in Bogota for 4 million pesos. Exchange rate is 1,890 to the $US. That's roughly $12 million for a Gringo in Bogota. For a drug lord in the jungle, it would be . . . Well, you do the math. Nice headline though. War on drugs, carry on.
|
Don't worry guys, that will be on the streets for sale next week.....PURECANE......
|
thats the "Street" value which is always highly over inflated for the press
that amount seized is a drop in the bucket for the cartels |
Would this have been cut after it reached its destination or before?

I'm fully stocked so I'm good.

which probably cost them $10k to make that
|
As if 'supply' had anything to do with drug prices.
Verizon doesn't price their bandwidth based on what it costs them to provide it or how much of it they have on hand. Pharma doesn't price medicine based on the cost. Your coke dealer or pot dealer isn't counting crops to determine what you are willing to spend either. |
That's definitely a lot of coke.
|
20x that was sezied total in 2012 so its not really a monster haul...
the irony of the situation is that the government is the cartels BEST friend because it artificially raises the price of something that it is unable to control, and thus rewards the criminals with a lucrative smuggling and distribution opportunity... the irony upon irony is that the more you fight it, the more you raise the price, the less they have to import to make the same $$...basic economics dictates that the harder something is to get the higher the price it commands... what the police report as a "success" is in fact, just a long term high price guarantee... war on drugs, war on terror...war is costing the USA a shitload lately... |
that was the decoy :1orglaugh test that shit :1orglaugh how pure is it?
|
price to go up, or price to go down..

it is the almighty law of demand and supply...even in prison where conditions and security is inhuman, the main business is selling drugs... saying that the war on drugs has any positive effect at all, is the intellectual equivalent of flapping your hands in the air and claiming you can fly...every junkie knows where to score every day, in any time in history, in any place in history...its just that politicians are "above" reality :1orglaugh |

$70 million at best
Several years ago the local news reported of guys guys busted by the Feds. The asking price was $14,000 per key. A few years earlier there was a bust and the guy would have to be charging $2000 per gram to come up with the $ amount the local cops claimed.
Look carefully at the picture. There's at least a dozen different wrappings of the keys. They come from different labs for different groups. Each group throws in a few keys for shipment. That way if there is a bust, no group suffers a serious loss. This bust at worst cost them a week's shipment. Annual production is estimated to be 350-600 metric tonnes. And this is just a Colombian shipment. Most now comes through Mexico. |
Fighting the drug trade is like pissing in the ocean. It'll never end...it won't go away. There'll always be a supply and demand.
The only thing that goes away is the country's infrastructure when money that could be used instead to repair and rebuild bridges and highways gets re-allocated to fight the futile war on drugs. |
