Interesting read.
Seems to be a lot of talking, but yet no one is even claiming that anyone under age is involved in production of adult material. I an only wonder how much 2257 costs. For Playboy ICS alone we had someone full time making $50k a year. This doesn't include any time spend by the legal staff at Playboy down in Burbank, or company that came to our office to copy all of the 2257 records... Or any of the other departments in Playboy that had issues. Why isn't there a law requiring gas stations to record the IDs of everyone buy cigarettes? I mean, it's against the law to sell cigarettes and booze to minors, yet why don't they have scan in their ID and keep a paper file of the transaction? |

interesting the judge and the state going back and forth

Given the importance of this trial, I am amazed at the lack of interest and discussion of its finer points.

Look around you man, you're dealing with an industry who no longer gives a shit about anything other than fast cash. Commercialized piracy is at an all time high, and the biggest company in the world is also the biggest pirate organization running sites where they have no clue if the models are minors or not, and they do business with the very companies who do care about 2257, as well as partially fund the FSC who is fighting this case. How is that for dysfunctional? At best you have a group of larger established companies who will care about this, but no one else does. Porn has been and will continue to be a free-for-all regardless of the outcome of this. I bet 3/4 of the people on this board either don't know what 2257 is or don't care about it, and they certainly are not going to follow American law if there are not American. |
