There is NO MONEY in College SPORTS!!!!!!!!

Trust me this thread is going to be good!!!

Let me explain why college football players can not be given any money beyond the value of the cost of school/room/meals.

Bottom line : Because it is amateur sports.

This is very serious and why Mississippi State had to be punished!
A player got a sweet heart deal on the car he bought with a $2000 discount.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/mississ...48--ncaaf.html

Even buying a player something to eat at the wrong time can bring trouble from the NCAA.

This is necessary to keep college football AMATEUR.

The reason college football is AMATEUR is because :

There is no money in college football!

It's like this folks; the college has to pay the coaches, the team doctor, stadium employees, security, practice field maintainers, Athletic director, non-profitable female sports budgets, equipment manager, weight coach, referees, game announcer, marching band director, cheerleader coach, team secretary, etc....

So there really is no money left to pay any players, not even to give the best ones who busted ass and won awards on their scholarship free grad school.

The colleges are going broke trying to give people a chance to play football.

That's why There is no money in college football!

How do I know there is no money in college sports?

Well gee just look at these charts :

That's some truly fucking pathetic ticket sales and licensing, considering the expenses chart.

And to prove how impossible it would be to let college football players negotiate their worth,
look how the colleges are losing money as their endowments always go down.

also there is no money in porn

mineistaken 06-09-2013 12:47 PM

Expenses tab not posted. And most of those players should be lucky to get 50K or whatever worth of free education. I think its good, if they were paid then richest universities would almost always win.

there is no money in this and that and people still do this and that. point made, goodbye :1orglaugh

Richest universities already always win.

What league are you watching??

:1orglaugh

See, it works like this, you pay $10 million dollars for your coach, my school pays $85K, you win.

The biggest richer schools win so much that the NCAA has made subdivisions to
have smaller schools with lower budgets play each other. NCAA in 1978 started
a play off system for the lower division because those teams never got Bowl Games.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Division_I_%28NCAA%29

So how is this system fair when the NCAA is already putting smaller teams in a different system?

It's just bullshit.

Small schools will have 35-55 scholarships and richer schools have 80 scholarships.
How the fuck is that equal??

It sure as hell is not.

The richer teams have always been the winners and it will continue and the whole idea that not paying players or even awarding advance degree scholarships is keeping the playing field fair is the biggest joke/lie in the world.

A female tennis player recently lost her eligibility when she was caught using college water to wash her car. Seriously, saw it on ESPN.

she was probably doing a car wash and doing it at the college to raise funds. depending if it was of or on season those funds would have been the property of the college or athletic fund.:2 cents:

Why make that stuff up when the internet still works?

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/st...er-washing-car

She washed her own car once and was fined $20 for the cost of the water and use of the hose.

Get a grip, this NCAA shit is fucking out of control.

It's a goddamned slave operation.

she's not ineligible though.
I do get it though she reported it to the NCAA and they fined her the cost.
They have bigger fish to fry with football and basketball and the sponsors.
but I do agree with you its big money in college sports.

I said something earlier about awarding advanced degrees, so I will explain myself a little better.

I had a full football scholarship and finished with my degree.
I don't have any negatives feelings about it at all.
At no time do I ever feel like "I am owed something" or got "ripped off".

I made a deal and took that deal and enjoyed that deal and it was a good deal.

It was a great deal, so why even bring up getting something extra like more scholarship money to complete a masters degree?

Because I'm greedy just like the rest of you fucks! :1orglaugh

OK, but seriously, I measured my goals against my ability to accomplish them and the yard stick told one story PERIOD :

Me = Football or bust

So while I don't deserve anything I would have liked to been able to negotiate for myself beyond what the NCAA currently allows.

I would have asked the school to measure how I performed under my football scholarship and see if extending my scholarship to complete a masters was laudatory.

Some players make All America, some players ride the bench, some show up to camp out of shape and get the boot. All scholarship performances are NOT equal so there lies the legitimacy of offering more to those who busted ass for 4 years and didn't just ride the scholarship out while loafing.
