Is internet advertising really lame...
...or is it just me? I've been surfing around on YouTube for the last hour or so watching classic rock videos, and suddenly an ad pops up--for Pampers (diapers). I know that some of my personal info is floating around for internet advertisers to use as I get ads targeted for supporters of the soccer team I follow, and for Canon camera owners. But I'm way out of the demographic of likely recent baby breeders.
Last summer, I was looking at buying the Adobe CS6 suite, and after a couple weeks of thinking about it, I finally took the plunge. But I still get ads served to me touting CS6 even though I've owned it since last August. That doesn't seem very smart, does it?
I guess someone made money by serving up a Pampers ad to me, so maybe I shouldn't complain as it appears that capitalism is functioning as it should (kinda)... but I get the feeling that the whole internet advertising model is less than half-baked.
Would anyone like to confirm my thesis, or shoot it down?
