Why 800 pixels wide?
 

I'm trying to build nice blogs and most galleries I check have their FHG's pictures at 800 pixels wide....even Kink.com.......why?

Are we not in 2013? :error

too many old monitors out there.

And with new (bigger) monitors, people don't run browsers full screen.

as people started shifting to larger screens, netbooks and tablets came & became popular, resulting in ~1024 x something resolution still being used a lot..

We always offer 1024. :)

Over a 1000 is good enough......when using them in blog sliders!

Yep. I guess that's partly due to them being designed 'smaller', but even if they're designed to fit whatever screen they're ridiculous and harder to view.

Aside from that, I dislike having the browser covering up every other window.

Flash has its uses.

Just make your page responsive. My pages shrink to mobile size for users on tiny monitors.
