Just got an interesting domain name call

My phone rings and there is an Indian woman with an accent so heavy I can't understand her asking me if this site belongs to me. I finally tell her I can't understand her and the call ends.

About 20 minutes later I get another call from a guy trying to sell me a domain. It was a domain that I bought last year, never did anything with, and then let expire. They had purchased it and were now getting ready to auction it, but wanted to give me the chance to buy it back for $99 first.

Over the years I have owned many domains, some expired, some I use, some I have sold. This is the first time I have ever had someone actually call me and try to sell me back one of my old domains.

Whoever the company is, they need a better person who makes the first phone call because they were impossible to understand.

I get those stupid calls all the time. I can never understand completely and it's usually someone trying to either sell me a similar domain that I own, service to build a website on one that I'm parking for $500 or some idiot trying to sell me a domain that I already own..

got a few of them calls also, sounds like 100 people on the phones in the background, trying to sell me domains I intentionally let expire

I've had a couple of those over the last year or so, also from Indians. One guy was trying to sell me the .net and .org for a .com that I owned. I had the .net and .org but intentionally let them expire.

The guy couldn't understand why I wasn't interested in buying the .net and .org for a mere $500. He was really pushy and insistent. I finally had to tell him "I let them expire intentionally because I don't want them. I didn't want them at $8.99 and I certainly don't want them at $500. Learn to take rejection gracefully, dingleberry."

That is exactly what it sounded like.

The funniest part of it was when I told him I wasn't going to buy it so he could save his pitch he told me he was trying to help me make a lot of money. When I asked him if there was so much money in monetizing this traffic why didn't he just keep the domain and rake in the profits instead of trying to sell it to me for $99 he had no real answer.
