Obama now openly arming Al Qaeda AKA Syrian Rebels

"In a statement released by Ben Rhodes, the deputy national security advisor for strategic communications, the White House claims that ?our intelligence community assesses that the Assad regime has used chemical weapons, including the nerve agent sarin.?

Wait, what?

seeandsee 06-16-2013 05:39 PM

Again? Hm they did it against Soviets also

Tom_PM 06-16-2013 05:52 PM

We also signed a treaty with a country which we knew had gassed it's own citizens. I'll just say that we shouldn't give anyone jack shit for help in their civil wars.

.. mainly over the use of phosperous bombs in Fallujah ...
Americans destroyed the city, killed civilians and used chemical weapon ..
They killed way more then the 100 to 150 they claim Assad regime killed ( out of 93000 deaths ) ...

Funny how the first documented chemical attack by the UN was the rebels doing it ... and it got suppressed and spinned to say the contrary ...

Obama is a major deception ... But nothing better on the horizon in the USA politics ...

Assad winning against our Al Qaeda buddies = us claiming they used chemical weapons.

Mutt 06-16-2013 07:15 PM

there are no 'good guys' in the Middle East, there is no 'moral high ground' to take there, you get involved there realizing that.

directfiesta thinks he invented 'hypocrisy' :1orglaugh

dyna mo 06-16-2013 07:17 PM

is this better or worse than closely arming them?

lemme know.

sarettah 06-16-2013 07:34 PM

We should just be staying out of the whole fucking mess this time. Sit it out.

.

helterskelter808 06-16-2013 07:36 PM

In 5 or 10 years, when the next blowback occurs, we can ask "why?" all over again.

I don't think it will be 5 to 10 years. Obama is losing his popularity and people are seeing him for what he really is. Something has to occur to change public opinion and draw support for more useless wars.

Why do people make stuff up?

As of today, Obama boy has a 49% popularity rating. I'm guessing that's pretty good, right?

I mean, a lot higher than the 22% Bush had when he left office.

GFY is becoming a lot like the media these days - when they get bored, they make stuff up to back up their slanted point of view.

war mongering is a huge business for the USA...arm one side to keep the fighting going and then, when everything is rubble, install a "democratic" government that will financially rape the country left and right from its resources and give concessions to US businessmen who are tight with the US corporate government...

go USA!

I have predicted this a few months ago :2 cents:

Barry-xlovecam 06-17-2013 05:42 AM

Both the Russians and Americans should stay the fuck out of it -- let the Sunnis and the Shiites fight it out with the Muslim countries providing weapons and aide.

Just contain the battlefield to the combatants and let them fight it out ...

It's a lose-lose proposition there.

Joshua G 06-17-2013 06:24 AM

dumb thread.

al qaeda of 2001 is long gone. jihadis who want some press use the word for the Fame. The USA uses it to smear any Islamists they don't like.

now the Op is using the word just to smear american policy in syria. when the fact is, Islamists are a portion of the overall resistance. who cares if those islamists call themselves al qaeda. they just want press.

american policy of neutrality has historically led to unexpected blowback, going all the way back to george washington. the war of 1812, world war 2, 911, all happened while americans declared themselves neutral while they watched bad things happen overseas.

so if america does nothing, & chemical weapons start finding their way to american cities, i guess Op will make a thread about how our doing nothing was wrong all along.

pornguy 06-17-2013 06:45 AM

Got to keep the wars going.

So arming the " rebels " and handing over the country to those islamist fighters will prevent those chemical weapons to reach america ...???

If so, why hasn't Assad already used them or sent them to the USA for them to be used ???

please explain.

London, Jan 30 (ANI): The Obama administration gave green signal to a chemical weapons attack plan in Syria that could be blamed on President Bashar al Assad's regime and in turn, spur international military action in the devastated country, leaked documents have shown.
Another leak?

tsk tsk tsk

From CNN today:

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...ies/?hpt=hp_c2

"The poll indicates that 'for the first time in Obama's presidency', half of the public says they don't believe he is honest and trustworthy."

Yeah, sure, but that poll is made up from Fox..., uh Drudge..., uh Huffington..., oh, CNN?!?

Sure, he's doing better than Bush - but is that Obama's new slogan: Hey, I'm still better than Bush. What will it be a year from now? Hey, I'm still better than Andrew Johnson?

i will decline. i figured readers would understand it was a hypothetical. not you. it flew over your head.

but if i made a hypothetical about saudis hijacking 4 planes at the same time, you would also need an explanation.

Half of the public voted for him, so it seems to me he is right on track. Presidential approval rates go down, and go up. Like magic.

Bush's approval rating for this same period, during his second term (June 2006) was all of 38%.
