13 Adult Domains Ordered Transferred to PornTube

I read this while having my morning coffee and almost choked on it, because:

Quote:

The websites ordered transferred include LargePornTube.com, GoldPornTube.com, KissPornTube.com, BoxPornTube.com, PipePornTube.com, 69PornTube.com, RoyalPornTube.com, BookPornTube.com, CubePornTube.com, FreshPornTube.com, LustPornTube.com, BonusPornTube.com and DirectPornTube.com.

So now anyone that uses porntube.com in their domain, can expect to have their domain handed over if the porntube.com owners decides to go for it?

freecartoonporn 06-17-2013 11:43 PM

i hope porn.com sues porntube.com

pretty fucked up for such a commonword.

gofuckyourselfporntub.com still available. if porntube guys wanna get it too.

baggg 06-17-2013 11:46 PM

this is fucked up ...
largeporntube.com alexa 440
goldporntube.com alexa 2800

:Oh crap:Oh crap

3xmedia 06-17-2013 11:54 PM

this is fucking retarded.

rowan 06-18-2013 12:01 AM

If it was a legal trademark I'd say fair's fair... but this is disturbing:

The ruling was made by arbitrators last month despite a pending Calista's legal petition to have the "PornTube" trademark registration cancelled in the U.S. because use of the term is commonplace.

So is the fact that the owner of the domains was a porntube affiliate. If you're using someone's mark you'd better make sure you have it in writing that they're fine with it.

thumbuilderic 06-18-2013 12:01 AM

Yeah, I see largeporntube frequently in search result. :\

Mr. Stiff 06-18-2013 02:41 AM

Wow, they'll get a great traffic boost

Ouch!

Sucks ass!

icymelon 06-18-2013 04:38 AM

does google own the trademark on tube?

InfoGuy 06-18-2013 04:50 AM

What a fucked up decision, clearly descriptive. Start pulling links...

DWB 06-18-2013 04:50 AM

Lame. I agree with the poster over, while I know it won't happeb, I'd like to see porn.com sue porntube.com. It would be equally absurd, but fitting.

Then po.com could sue porn.com, and p.com could sue po.com.

Fuck 'em all... P.com will be the last man standing.

Markul 06-18-2013 04:56 AM

So who actually owns porntube.com?

FUCK domain squatters! they are the absolute scum of the Internet and every single one of them deserves a broom in their ass

EddyTheDog 06-18-2013 08:31 AM

I would have thought youtube had a claim against all of them in that case...

Same can be said about companies who built themselves up by using other people's content without the owners permision

mardigras 06-18-2013 08:36 AM

I wonder if they could have a root domain siezed if one of the words is used in a subdomain, ie.: tube.somethingporn.com or somethingporn.somethingtube.com? Do the words have to be adjacent, like somethingporn.tubesomething.com or would porntube HAVE to be unbroken in the address?

Pretty crappy that PornTube allowed the sites to build up to 8% of their traffic AS an affiliate before taking action.:disgust

mardigras 06-18-2013 08:42 AM

Or what if an affiliate uses subdomains for sponsors, such as porntube.something.com...

Klen 06-18-2013 08:46 AM

Looks to me how they have trademark to porntube.com ,not porntube(as that is too generic),so if dude would have different extension he would be safe,i believe. On his place i would do 301 redirect asap to save as much is possible traffic. Also in theory tube.com could sue porntube.com ,but again if porntube.com is trademarked already then such things is not an option. That is why is good to trademark your domain name before you start building serious traffic on it.

You can be sued as well for that,i think microsoft or apple was suing for subdomains on twitter and similar services. There was also case with one sponsor which was attacking affiliates with subdomains which matched their trademarks, search gfy to find a thread.

I know they can be sued and sponsors can terminate an affiliate account for it, but can the root domain be siezed if it does not contain the trademarked name? I have a gay site using tube as a subdomain (gay is in the root domain) because I didn't want gay/tube to appear together.

No they cant seize domain name, they can just get you to remove subdomain or hand over to them.

Hopefully that will remain the case... I seriously considered using the subdomain "videos" instead of tube but went with tube since my root domain is uniquely mine...

Seriously... and I hope that without the traffic efforts and marketing from the domain owner that they were sending to porntube as an affiliate the income from the domains dwindles to a pittance of what porntube was receiving. :disgust

No suggestions on how you might benefit from it, but if the domain owner was sending any of YOUR links to porntube it hurts you.

tonyparra 06-18-2013 09:59 AM

they are not going to give them up.

Hopefully they are solvent enough to survive the legal costs of the case, the appeal and any further litigations. Would be great if the case blew up their traffic from the exposure and a big search engine boost...AND they send it all elsewhere:winkwink:

signupdamnit 06-18-2013 11:16 AM

What a bunch of scumbags. It's no surprise just search on the forum and look at their site. They did this to one of their affiliates. So it just goes to show that you should not work with these people because they will fuck you. But if you had any sense you would already know that.

They've always been about stealing other's work or otherwise conning people into into giving them content our of desperation. What did you expect? They're assholes. Most of the people at the top in this industry are assholes.

"porn" is not trademarked

"porntube" is trademarked

Bravo 06-18-2013 11:47 AM

porntube.com owner Coolness is greedy idiot, he invited this affiliate to promote his tubes personally, paid him $XXX.XXX during 20 month for traffic and clear knew all these domains. Seems later he decided to get all of them for free

as result 4tube/porntube will be banned in 100's affiliate traffic generating sites, plus Coolnees got the reputation of asshole

:2 cents:

If that's true it's very bad. Working with someone for 2 years and then fucking them over to keep all their domains. Doesn't give a shit about his affiliates obviously, fuck him. I will be dropping his links too, hope others do the same.
