Help me call out a "rouge" designer!! Inside now!!
 

I never really understood how companies could blame a "rouge" designer ... but I've learned my lesson first hand.

Here's the story - I asked for a caricature to be made of a photo I provided.

Within 30 minutes the designer came back with the following image:

At first I thought "wow, nice" ... but, I was somewhat suspucious simply because of the turn around time. I asked if he had created this and if it was original artwork, his response was something along the line of "yep, this old dog has skills". Well, I dropped the image into google search ... low n behold, I found the following:

I pointed this out to him and he responded with some bullshit saying how he modified bla bla. Obviously he completely missed the point of original artwork. So, now he's somewhat butt hurt because I was just asking for him to be honest and I pointed out that he lied.

Now, he spends all morning hunched over his computer and comes back with the following and says "his is hand drawn. no stock whatsoever ... I hope you consider that 'real' artwork. LOL":

The problem is I feel like I've seen this image before + I'm worried since the first version was a plain lie. I tried dropping it into google search but of course it's not coming up. If I had to guess, he traced, outlined, resided, flipped, etc. but it's still some other image that isn't original.

Anyone care to help prove me right? :helpme

Well, this designer isn't "family" or anything like that, but it's one of those situations where you have a retarded brother-in-law who you can't necessarily disown. And being he went an extra mile to try to "redeem" himself, if he's lying again I'd like to say "ok, you had your second change but again you're plagiarizing".

Boss you should move on, you're wasting your own time with a designer you can't trust. It can take time to find someone that designs professionally and have the correct work ethics.

Yes, Yes, Yes ... I get it guys, and I'm not trying to trust this guy. The fact I dropped his image into google search the first time was due to knowing that I don't trust this guy. This thread isn't for advice on "getting a new designer" ... I don't use this guy, he's from a pool of designers our company uses. The point is to deny his bullshit a 2nd time.

Also, the "funny part" is that we carried this conversation on via a project manager. He happens to be an admin so of course he first tried to lock everyone out of the thread except for him n me ... but the issue is that each post sends an email to everyone lol. Also, I have a screenshot of the thread because I knew he'd pull some lamer shit and either delete it entirely and/or edit. Sure enough, now he's removed the "yep, this old dog has skills" post but he's still claiming this last version is hand drawn. Look, if it is, great ... but I just don't want to go around using it only to later be sued because someone else says "hey, that's my image".

Hire the guy that does caricatures and cartoonish drawings... shit forgot his name. He is on this board though.

I can draw black and white if you're looking in the future. It'll take a bit more than 30 minutes, though.. :winkwink:

I didn't pay shit for this design, I don't pay shit for this designer. This is more of a "I want to clown this dumb fuck for being a dumb fuck ... who can help me prove this latest image is just another clever copy" ... I have 12 other designers, 2 of which already provided caricatures that I can use. I don't need to hire someone else or even fire this clown because I don't employ him. Again, this is more of I want to tell this retard to Go fuck himself again by proving that he did nothing more but copy again.

Why don't you just ask him for work in progress images? Or the real final 'master' image? Nobody saves completed work solely as a "png".

Go on fiver and look around. You'd be surprised at the talent on there and what it can buy for 5 bucks.

Plus if there is something that you need done well on a regular basis, it's well worth spending $50-$100 to give 10-20 people the same task to find the best person to hire cheaply. :winkwink:
