Bitcoin Foundation ordered to cease operations in California
Bitcoin Foundation Receives Cease And Desist Order From California.
"It's an odd development, since the Foundation doesn't actually perform any wire transfers." Ok so USA does not want anyone to touch or even "talk about" bitcoins. Perhaps Bitcoins will be more successful in China or Russia or Kenya and the such? http://www.forbes.com/sites/jonmaton...om-california/ http://www.computerworld.com/s/artic...al_ regulator http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-575...in-california/ "If Bitcoin Foundation was not the only recipient, then expect other companies to come forward in the days and weeks ahead." http://venturebeat.com/2013/06/23/bi...in-california/ |
I think it'll turn into the same as most other "alternative" currencies.
|
"Land of the free" :helpme
I wonder what the Heritage Foundation think of this. They like "freedom of economy" but are they willing to risk their own power/income? The only freedom left in most of the world, is the freedom to choose one of the alternatives the system have given you. 500000 types of consumer goods, but you can only use our money to buy it. And don't you even dare TRY to barter the goods. |

If they had anything on them they wouldn't be sending a C&D, they would be fined or locked up instead... :2 cents:

it's california, i.e., it's a clusterfuck. the fact they targeted a non-profit foundation that does not transact btc is revealing. moreover, re: btc specifically, it's an innovative tech achievement, it simly needs to align itself with the rules, just like with the fincen rulings. |

america has so much fucking bylaws and BS that if you call that much regulation freedom, then I'm the easter bunny :) (or you haven't really experienced freedom yet) |
Nothing will happen

My guess: the bitcoin foundation will move to another US state; until get a letter there too, then move in another state. If each state takes a month to figure and send the letter, they have 50 months, a few years of time, before to move to iceland or sant marteen island. Or north korea.

the foundation is not even in california, this story is more about the clusterfuck called california than about bitcoin.
this is a state that figured out its budget last year based on imaginary taxes from the, at the time, upcoming facebook ipo. |
bitcoins are so convenient! WOW! look this north korean plastic lighter repair man accepts bitcoins in his street gutter card board box "shop"...dead rat kebap with every lighter free!
miss dirtyF and his WSO bullshit :1orglaugh |
had to goog wso
"WSO" may stand for: World Salvation Organisation World-Wide, political justice institution. World Salvation Order World-Wide. Waltham Symphony Orchestra in Waltham, Massachusetts, United States. Washabo Airport (IATA code WSO) in Washabo, Suriname Water Systems Optimization, an engineering firm based in the United States Weapon Systems Officer (or weapon systems operator), a flight officer in the United States Air Force, United States Navy, or United States Marine Corps and in the British Royal Air Force. West Sussex Opera in Chichester, West Sussex, United Kingdom Wheeling Symphony Orchestra in Wheeling, West Virginia, United States Wichita Symphony Orchestra in Wichita, Kansas, United States Wiener Schule für Osteopathie in Vienna, Austria Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada World Safety Organization World Sikh Organization World Sport Overnight, an Australian radio program on SEN 1116 Warrior Special Offers, WSO stands for Warrior Special Offers, which is a special section of the Warrior Forum where members can sell special offers to other WF subscribers. White superficial onychomycosis, WSO stands for White Superficial Onychomycosis. no wonder dirtyF isn't posting, he's busy with wso bullshit! |

KlenTelaris, ya that's why so many dumbfucks here.
USA really got them by the balls, lots of zombie brainwashed dumb asses in these BTC threads, it's really funny (but also sad) America, I really love my country, but really sucks to see our governments really take advantage of that term "Land of the Free" :( |
so the foundation does no money transfers, but gets a cease and desist order to stop money transfers?
government fuck up or oppression? cause this really looks like a misuse of legal channels for oppression |
The reason, IMHO they got a C&D is because so many idiots on the BTC forums are telling new businesses to become foundation members thinking that offers some kind of 'protection' against scams.
There are countless threads on the main BTC boards by moderators and admins telling people 'get signed up with the BF' to show people you are legit... Its stupid. I can see the potential why some idiot in California would have C&D's the foundation for that reason along, confusing it with something that *actually* mattered on the grand scheme of things. Oh and for the record, I'm the foundation DOES to wire transfers of BTC because that is how they want their 'membership dues' and foundation donations to be paid. |
