I was listening to this Brazilian doctor . . .

As I am sure you are aware, shit is going down in Brazil; apparently the people are upset that the government is willing to spend so much on the upcoming World Cup while they are in the middle of all these other issues like the inability to buy petrol and the very long waits to see a doctor in emergency rooms.

I was listening to a doctor talk about the problem and he said it was common knowledge that in order for a free medical system that the people expected to work, the government had to contribute 70% of the budget. Apparently the Brazilian government is only giving 46%.

So, what is the percentage given by the goverment in the countries you live in?

Sounds like you should move, or stand up and make a statement.

Not sure how to interpret this. Your insurance company is government run?

The Brazilian President is very proactive and supportive of the protests. They have already passed some laws to better fund health care and education.

Petrol?

I thought that Brazil had changed their cars over to run off ethanol produced by sugar cane and had plenty of cheap fuel to run their cars...it's always hailed as a major success story for alternative fuels.

I don't know what the percentage is here for the locals, but in government hospitals here the people pay very little. Some don't pay at all, but I'm not sure what status they fall under to not have to pay anything. That said, you do NOT want to end up in a government hospital here unless you simply have no choice. Private hospitals are the way to go if you can afford them, and they are pretty cheap by western standards.

I am only quoting what they report; there was no chemical breakdown included.

The question was what percentage the government subsidizes medicine where you live.
