Soon word "black" and color itself will be prohibited. Fucking insane.
|
|
George Orwell predicted it
|
Nothing surprises me anymore...
|
That's insane!
Let's ban blacklights, Black & Decker tools, black cherries, black belts, blackmail.... No more black eyes neither..... |
My black friend says to just say black.
I said "african american" once and he said "its not african american, its BLACK. Say Black" AHHHHHH! you cant win. |
stopped at 'thesun'
|
That's nothing; probably close to 20 years ago my dad was having his house appraised and told the real estate appraiser that the master bedroom was upstairs. He said that "master" bedroom was no longer acceptable terminology because of the racial undertones.

I do not find the term "black" to be racist at all. It's a fucking color.

:Oh crap dang. that's nutty although it reminds me of a similar, about that same time i was working sales and had a black customer, when he commented about a recent big jump in prices, i replied with "boy, you're right about that!" he said, "what did you just call me?" it even took me a moment to figure out he was talking about the racial undertones of the word *boy*, i was using it as an exclamation. |
so a business being in the black should be out too, despite it having good undertones, because being in the red would be disparaging to natives?

It may have just been the company I was working for. I remember a long drawn out email about it from corporate and how we should not use the terms any more. |

forgive my ignorance
but isn't saying 'blacklist is racist'.. racist? you're taking an entirely non racist term and then suddenly saying 'it's racist', and demanding everyone change? the only time it became racist is when the scotland yard said it was. |

how about black hat SEO and white hat SEO ?

According to the Henry Holt Encyclopedia of Word and Phrase Origins the word "blacklist" originated with a list England's King Charles II made of fifty-eight judges and court officers who sentenced his father, Charles I, to death in 1649.
When Charles II was restored to the throne in 1660, thirteen of these executioners were put to death and twenty-five sentenced to life imprisonment, while others escaped. |

So what's acceptable in place of blacklist? Badlist? "I badlisted the asshole. Let's see his sorry ass get a job now" Start Wars is obviously a racist movie. Having Vader all in black is a blatant slam on the black race. |
Is that for real? The UK? WTF?
|
My son has a brown belt in Aikido. Thanks god he doesn't live in the UK or USA, because the next his belt would have an Afro-american color then :helpme
|
Do they realize that prohibiting word "blacklisted" they look stupid? There is no more "black people" officially - MEDIA call them Afro-Americans, right? So if there is no more black people how come word "blacklisted" can be racist?
|
It' was all so much easier when they were all just "coloreds"

It is strange that porn is becoming so prominent and yet political correctness is also becoming an issue.

From now on I am adding spam emails to my African American list.

Why is it called a "blacklist"? Is the list printed on black paper? I've never seen one before so just asking. |

that douche McCarthy in the 50's black listed many from Hollywood. I always thought modern meaning came from people being marked off the lists of those who could be hired. From crew to directors to actors... |
