The referee was attacked and stoned by enraged spectators who quartered his body after he stabbed a player in the heat of an argument. Referee Otavio da Silva expelled player Josenir Abreu from the game, which resulted in a fist fight. It was then that da Sliva took out a knife during this fight and stabbed Abreau, who died from the stab wound on his way to the hospital.

The world is a fucked up place when the ref stabs and kills a soccer player on the field, the crowd beheads him instantly. Guess he didn't see that coming.

I'd say they should security check the players, coaches, staffs and refs to make sure no one is packing heat or a knife but then they would be defenseless against the fans. lol
