You are the employer, not the employee.... If they want paid up front, then tell him to go work for tips.... then again, scamming does go both ways.... I have had coders beg me for money half way through projects some stuff like: "my baby is sick, and i need bill money" I kindly told him his personal & finance problems are not my concern.... I do not know any employers that advance money, even if your baby is sick and you need money for bills. If coders are that desperate for a quick payday, then I think they are in the wrong line of work. If you need a quick payday, then get a payday loan to hold you over.... then again, if you have to get a payday loan, then you are either spending to much money, you are not getting enough coding jobs, or you cant keep up with the demands of pumping out quality coding work.... I have also had coders decline work because I would not pay them up front. You know what my reply is: ty for your time, have a nice day.... |
Well, just to say that Ticbra is a SCAMMER !!!
I paid him and almost 20 days has passed and he never said anything more! Time frame was 5 days... I was SCAMMED again! WATCH OUT guys! |
If you're going to hire new people on gfy with only 8 posts you are just looking to get ripped off. Find someone with a reputation or look elsewhere from a place with accountability.
|
Thanks for the advice!
Btw, can paxum act in this situations? Payment was made via paxum. Any feedback? Thanks! |
Like i told you already the last time and also my programmer: you want a full Script which takes for example 100hrs coding, but you dont want to pay for example 1000usd for it. You want it really cheap and only pay for example only 50dollars for it.
Conclusio: no real programmer would do that Job. Only people with 5 postings will say they Can do that, take your money ans scam you. But Its your decision. If you are paying Too lese for something, in Most cases toi pay so two, Three, four... TImes for it. Greets |

redbusiness, my mistake was not doing this on freelancer.com, I already worked with great guys there, and they have milestones and the money was safe there. Anyway, was only 25% of the project, I paid him $30 upfront. Is not too much money, but I dont like (anyone likes it right?) to be SCAMMED!
BCyber, thank you for your feedback buddy. Btw, if anyone wants to avoid this scammer: Email: [email protected] ICQ: #671743380 |
I am sorry if you got ripped off BUT
This thread is hilarious on so many levels. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh . |

Also asking them for portofolio/website may *reduce* a bit the scam probability. |
I am sorry about your 'case' Enigma1.
I think that most scams starts with price and offer details that are TOO GOOD TO BE A TRUTH... My personal experiences as BUYER are something like this: if someone ask 50% it is OK, I know also the developer side, he won't spend, like somebody already said, 100 hours making working example that you are willing to pay $50, so best way is: - reference - talk with people who are in those references (people worked with developer/designer) before - your personal impression in taling about job how much he/she is motivated (if developer asks many questions then probably think to really finish your job, if he/she 'understand' everything and have no question just waiting for payment before start then probably something is not ok) - etc On the other side, as SELLER, I had many times situation like this: someone want something to be done, I ask a lot of questions before making offer, and even more before closing a deal, and my price is for example $3.000 Guy (buyer) telling me after few weeks and 10 mails to each other, that he likes my reference and my approach to accomplish [SOME TASK] but my price is too high and my deadline is too long. Ok thanks, feel free to drop offer request for any task anytime. Then after few weeks we are going again: "XYZ gus scammed me for $1.000 no response from him for 2 weeks, blah blah..., I am ready to work with you now, but I will not pay nothing in advance..." Sure (I mean "suuure in some other life", ...) Point is that all of us as buyers or sellers can be scammed, but we can act on that way to decrease chance for that to happens to us to smallest posible |
sarettah, glad to hear that I make you laugh
mamaliga, I asked for his portfolio like I always do, here is part of the conversation: Quote:
