They weren?t exactly strangers on a train.

Bay Area Rapid Transit police are reviewing amateur footage of a couple having sex aboard a train that has gone viral since being posted to the internet last Thursday.

Under a new California law, riders caught engaging in indecent behavior can be banned from using the public transportation system for up to one year.

?Lewd activity is not only highly inappropriate on BART, it's highly illegal,? BART spokeswoman Luna Salaver told the San Jose Mercury News. ?It can and will get you banned from the entire system. We will prosecute people if we can positively identify people for such behavior on a train.?
Police are studying the porn video to try and identify the two people having sex. If found, the couple could be banned from the system for up to a year.

The partially disrobed randy riders are shown having sex in one of the train car?s seats as an unseen person films the incident on what appears to have been a cell phone.

It is unclear whether other passengers were aboard the train, as well as what time the scene was shot.

The footage was uploaded to Facebook and other sites, and has been viewed more than 1.4 million times. Facebook has since removed the X-rated transit tryst.

While a hit online, the prospect of open passenger sex is not something that BART officials hope catches on.

?Do yourself and the families who ride BART a favor and keep it in the bedroom,? BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said in a statement.

The people watching on BART is Grade A, but yes I always opt for standing over the seats.
