Smooth summer cd tip: Forgotten g funk rap album from '94. My rating: 9/10.
I have a few albums of SCC (south central cartel) and 'All day everyday' of '97 is my favourite because of the spotless production and laid back g-funk vibe of it all.
Was checking some related stuff on amazon and someone recommended the '94 album 'kickin game' from 2 guys of SCC (havoc & prodeje, not to be confused with mobb deep, just weird coincidence). Check on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Kickin-Game-Ha...ref=pd_sim_m_2 This album matches the perfection of 'all day everyday' and is even better because I don't skip any songs on here. lyrics aren't original, and i'd say a bit average mc's, but it all matches perfectly with the smooth beats. Some tracks have subtle 80's synthesizer keystrokes, those little details are great! Just sharing, carry on now :winkwink: |
havoc & prodeje - kickin' game and other songs for America. Sounds interesting. Lots of swear words here for gangs. These songs have more lyrics and talking than some of the other songs that have very few lyrics. Longer stories told here. The beats are interesting. Perhaps these are more interesting than some of the very repetitive songs playing on the radio these days 24/7. And the radio repeats the same song like every 30 minutes.
