Root Canal's are crazy

holy shit I am glad to be able to eat on the left side of my mouth again but WOW.... I do not envy dentist.....

Someone told me that root canals are easy now compared to ten or twenty years ago.

Ahh how I remember a root canal when I told the doc my tooth wasn't numb and he didn't believe me and started grinding. I almost sent him through the window and I think the nurse cried in empathy, haha. That's when you know you're alive.

I had one a few months ago, and it was pretty easy. The only rough part is the mouth stretching and there's no way to get around that.

The last time I needed one, I got the tooth pulled and an implant for less than the cost of a root canal.

Root canal is worth the cost. I'd rather that, than mess around with a bridge for the rest of my life.

Took my 7 yo girl to dentist. We were 4 adults holding her and 1 talented dentist working.

I've had 9

Never had a tooth issue before my root canal, it hit me out of the blue. Amazing how fast it went from a slight nagging pain to unbearable.

LAJ 07-18-2013 11:37 AM

I had two root canals done back in the 90s. I didn't think it was that big a deal really.

The last one I had done, the dentist cracked the teeth and didn't tell me. The next visit they tell me, oh well the teeth is cracked and they wanted to charge me 5K for doing an implant, told them where to go:mad:

I work with a guy that had some nerve damage from a root canal that he had about 6 months ago, he still can't feel the lower half of his face :/

Sarah_Jayne 07-18-2013 12:27 PM

For me the procedure wasn't as bad as them not properly filling it after and going through a year of ouch until I was able to get it properly fixed.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled 20 years ago without gas, just local, as it was cheaper......the fucker was on my chest pulling and chiseling the little bastards out for over an hour!!!
I met pain and then payed it, crazy stuff for sure:thumbsup

I had one a few years back. The procedure itself wasn't terrible. It took a long time and it hurt after the Novocaine wore off, but it wasn't horrible. However, it didn't fix my problem 100%. It was a lot better, but I still had problems that started getting worse again over time. Eventually, about a year later I had the tooth pulled and got an implant.

My GF is a dental assistant who is going to school to be a dentist and she tells me that root canals are different for everyone and a lot of it depends on the level of damage to your tooth and other factors. Also, the dentists' skill plays a big roll. She says many people get them, have the tooth fixed and never have another problem and others have bad experiences and end up pretty unhappy and the procedure doesn't fully fix the problem

I had a cracked back molar from getting hit and impact cracked the tooth.. had that about a year.. then the tooth finally broke...

marcop 07-18-2013 10:39 PM

Last time I had a root canal--about a year ago--I took 1mg of Xanax and a vodka shot, and the dentist had to keep waking me up. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

An implant isn't a bridge.. With an implant the tooth is removed so no need for a root canal. The only reason a root canal is required is to save whats left of the tooth and the person from future pain.
