Sigh... Who would choose to be an affiliate..

I feel demoralised today.

Hosts that can't keep my site online
Bored of writing articles
Sponsors that Shave
Fucking Google
Fucking Bing
Minimum payouts
Sponsors that no payout

Still the money is nice I guess

1. Hosts that can't keep my site online -- get better hosting

2. Bored of writing articles -- pay someone else to write them

3. Sponsors that Shave -- no argument here

4. Fucking Google -- again, no argument here

5. Fucking Bing -- no argument again

6. Minimum payouts -- sorry but if you're expecting us to pay $45 ($65 total) for a $20 wire then you kind of don't get it...

7. Sponsors that no payout -- again, no argument.

Then get out. I think there is a tendency among some of us affiliates who have been doing this a while to think this is the only thing we can do. But that's not the case. You have all sort of other opportunities still out there in both mainstream and adult (though far less in adult now). You don't have to be an adult affiliate to make a living from Internet Marketing.

You state that the money is nice still so I guess you are still satisfied there but if it helps there are all sorts of rumors that many of the top adult companies are very near collapsing and are on a big downward spiral. It's not just you.

Rochard 07-18-2013 03:05 PM

Host with National Net and then push CCBill only sites. Problem solved.

I have a blog network and the only sites that make money for me are the CCBill solo girl sites.

fuzebox 07-18-2013 03:10 PM

No one's shaving. There's no benefit in this market.

If you can't make a $50, $100, $200, $500 minimum payout, maybe you should consider doing something else for a living :2 cents:

I disagree. The primary motivation to not shave before other than that you weren't a scumbag was that the affiliate was needed for traffic generation. With the tubes that need is greatly reduced and many affiliates tend to have less traffic. Then many programs have reduced revenue. If a sponsor is facing a choice of closing down the entire program or skimming a little more from the affiliates what are they probably going to do? Adult isn't known for it's ethics. The affiliate income becomes the sponsor's piggy bank to raid one way or another. There is no oversight. No accountability. I think I just read another guy in a different thread suggest that programs should shut down the affiliate programs and just steal the affiliate rebills because nothing will happen to them. This is where the adult affiliate market is now.

mineistaken 07-18-2013 03:39 PM

LOL. These are nothing (valid even in the golden days I guess). Number one is free shit out there and people that no longer pays for porn.

That's assuming he's deriving a living from it...and not just weekend beer money.

Need hosting ? check sig

bigluv 07-18-2013 05:29 PM

On the contrary I think the motivation to shave is up and likelihood of being caught and there being significant consequences is actually down overall these days.

I really dont understand these affiliate programs that are going bust, shaving or simply not paying out. If you cant cover your costs then your in the wrong biz.

We've been running TAC for over 10 years now and we have NEVER missed a payment (and bear in mind we pay our webmodels AND our affiliates a commission). There would have to be some kind of major disaster for us to even consider close it down.

Phoenix 07-18-2013 08:35 PM

add to that sponsors that pay late...then tell you to calm down.
or say i can see you are having a bad day so im going offline...lol
meanwhile you need to chase payments from them.

but when traffic stops...they hit you up bro...its not us..its our accounting department..lol

this business never ceases to amaze me

Crazy Enough 07-18-2013 11:55 PM

Hosts that can't keep my site online - find a better company. I know several reliable web hosting companies.

Bored of writing articles - so stop writing, after all writing articles is not the only option, right?

Sponsors that Shave - that's sad, but true, and I think most shavers are Cams, that's why I prefer paysites instead.

Fucking Google - fuck google

Fucking Bing - fuck bing

Minimum payouts - most programs have a small $100 minimum, so if you can't make $100 something is very wrong...

Sponsors that no payout - You have to try. Avoid small sponsors with poor quality videos, and outdated, with those 1999 looking sites. Search for premium sponsors, with nice girls, nice design, updated frequently.

Have fun and good luck.

mopek1 07-19-2013 04:25 AM

Here's my list:

1- Fuck google: everyone seems to agree
2- Google pushing porn away (img search, net search)
3- Google hating affiliates
4- Tumblr banning and hating on porn
5- Reddit's knee-jerk ban hammer
6- Paid traffic too expensive to monetize now.
7- Fuck tubes, lockers, forums that give everything away free.
8- Shaving
9- Not as many new sites being launched.
10- Established converting sites not updating as much anymore.
11- Conversions down everywhere (even dating and cams).
12- GFYers claiming 1:50 ratios in every other thread.

As an affiliate it seems the walls are closing in on me all around. Still, it's better than a J.O.B.

It really isn't. I clocked in 4.5 hours ago, made $180 so far. How's your morning going?

Then find another profession, this industry is not really intended for lazy people

You should probably stop advising people around here... You have made it quite clear on this board that you have not succeeded at anything in a long time in this industry. How can your advise help others exactly?

To be fair, even us hard workers are finding it tough.

The real question is, who would choose to be remain an affiliate in this current climate?

The answer is:

Someone who enjoys being a part of the industry no matter how much commision he makes and or relishes the challenge of making a substantial income in these less than optimal conditions.

I don't know why Pimproll pays a hot headed, low IQ ass to post on the boards and stalk affiliates all day starting fights but whatever. You're probably someone's cousin or BIL. I'm just going to put you on ignore at this point and be done with it.

It would make you feel better if any of that were true wouldn't it? Keep pretending and dreaming up reasons why you aren't successful. It's obviously paying off well for you now.

Feel much better today thanks MisterPeabody.

I was pretty pissed because I just moved to a new host based on recommendations here and my main site was down for 8 hours.
A few updates and it's all sorted again.

Still not happy with Google, Bing, Minimum Payouts and Shaving Sponsors though!

LOL I don't blame you! My main site, Mister Peabody World, was down for a couple days this week due to a domain/hosting debacle that was 100% my fault for being the idiot who set things up that way in the first place 6 years ago when I knew nada. LOL

The most infuriating thing about the Internet is that I DO NOT CONTROL EVERY WEBSITE ON IT GRRRR! :)

nexcom28 07-19-2013 02:40 PM

What amazes me is that you can blissfully go about your business for days, weeks, months, years without realising a problem until BAM! your host says your using to many resources stop it or we will suspend you.
I was like WTF, I have no idea what the problem is, it's been fine for the last 2 months.

I feel the same! Kinkstercash affiliate payments are also always on time. Check out our program if you're interested in some quality BDSM content from a great affiliate program...

There may not really be a problem. The host could be shaking you down to try to get you to pay more to upgrade or you might be using more resources than they anticipated in pricing the deal they gave you.
