Question for gun guys?

http://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Solv...s=solvent+trap

Are these legal? I see them all over Amazon and ebay, So I guess legal. But if the guys are using them as they are insinuating in the comments, I guess that would be illegal?

United States gun laws vary from state to state, and federal firearms laws are supplemented, broadened or limited by state laws. Ownership of gun silencers is permitted by state law in a majority states, although some states' laws place restrictions on silencer ownership. A silencer, which is also commonly known as a suppressor, sound suppressor or sound moderator, is a device which reduces the amount of noise and flash occurring when a gun is fired.

Thanks, That is what I thought. Wondering if the seller is committing a crime or the buyer once he screws an oil filter onto it.

Cool seeing somebody from Henderson NV answer my question here too. I used to have a subscription to Small Arms Review.

These make it so that you can screw a standard threaded gun barrel into an oil filter. They are being called solvent traps, To catch solvents as they drip out of the end of the barrel. But if you shoot through it, It acts as a suppressor.

I don't know if people are actually using them as solvent traps. Always easier for me to spay my barrel out over a handkerchief.
