There were easter eggs in the game Franke Goes to Hollywood on the commodore 64 and in tonnes of dvd's these have always been called easter eggs so nothing new about them.
Plenty in older windows too eg windows98 doom style in excel. It is all been about marketing ploys or private jokes.

Try this for Easter egg idea write password in bold letters on the sign up page and see if anyone reads anything on a porn site.
