Have you ever been to the island of Costa Rica?
It's really an amazing island. I loved it. The fruit was the best.
|
no sir, i can't say that i have. i have, however, indulged in the wonderful aroma of the coffee bean produced in this land by the poor villagers
|
What's it called?..
|
No but it's on my todo list. Long ass flight though.
|
Island of Costa Rica? The Costa Rica I know is no island.
|
When did Costa Rica become an island?

Or did you just go on vacation & sit on a beach without any idea of the basic geography of where you visited? |
Are the women hot ??
|
Are you talking about the Cocos Islands, that are part of Costa Rica?
..... because as a country, Costa Rica is not an island. . |
I just read Costa Rica and yes i've been. Awesome country!

So there was this earthquake see, and it caused a country in Central America to drift off into the ocean, becoming an island. It was cut away exacly around it's borders, leaving surrouding countries unaffected.
None of which made the news. |
Haven't been there yet...

....True, and the one time I went diving there, the viz was not very good. . |
Can someone explain why Costa Rica is so awesome? I'm not trying to be a wise guy I am just curious as to the allure. I've seen many people say it's awesome and I've never been.
|
If you like Costa Rica, check out Nicaragua. Actually, please don't. I love it because all of you and most other tourists don't go there.

In regards to the tourism machine in Nicaragua, it will never get rolling in my opinion. Education is shit, it's not nearly as exotic as neighboring countries, and the level of poverty. It's an alright country to visit if you like Latin America but I can't see it changing from what it is anytime soon. Sure people are buying up property in San Juan del Sur and Granada but it doesn't mean much really. |

What makes it not awesome for me is the amount of gringos running around down there. Also a lot of shady, wannabe gangster expats - just what I don't want to see. My advice - skip Costa Rica and go to Colombia, or start with Panama if you need some training wheels. |

Will be interesting to see how the China stuff plays out though. |

No. I saw the flyover shots of Costa Rica on Jurassic Park and I have been there myself. It is definitely an island. Not sure where you guys went. Maybe Panama.

A very, very nice place. More than having no army, its foreign policy makes it like a Central American Switzerland. All of the nice things said about it above are true. It's a nice and safe country with something for most people, from the pre-Columbian gold artifacts magnificently displayed in a huge exhibit at the national bank to Gringo Gulch at 4:30 a.m. on a Saturday night, from the incredibly interesting Mercado Central in San Jose to the beaches at Jaco. Jungles, great food, macadamia and cashew nuts, pineapples, seafood, friendly people, it's a great destination for any vacation, whether for a family or a pack of pornographers. Like I said, something for everybody. (But it's really not an island. Nicagagua on one side, Panama on the other.)
