I know most owners of Russian and Ukranian restaurants/stores here in Vancouver and looks like their business is as good as usual. Nothing really changed as much. It's mostly affecting Importers of Russian Vodka (since lots of bars - NOT all, but some) stopped serving any russian vodka. They just stock Russian vodka in the backroom - Since they don't wanna pour it out wasting their $$$.

It isn't gay people who are influential in pushing for change in the West. Many prominent politicians are gay but prefer to keep it private. And gay people "on the ground" do not have the political clout to be able to shift policy and public opinion by themselves.

Russia doesn't do "minority rule", or enablement of special interest groups. You'd need sweeping changes in the corridors of power, and in media ownership for that to happen.
