Password Sentry (PS) Update
 

Password Sentry (PS) was updated: Bandwidth Monitor (BM) plugin now throttles per user bandwidth usage. You can set the download rate (Mbps) limit (threshold) that users can download content at. If a user download rate exceeds threshold, their downloading is throttled or slowed down. Also helps discourage bulk downloading which can drive up server bandwidth costs and overload servers. This new feature has been been very successful, and PS Owners (using the plugin) have reported overwhelmingly positive results.

We plan to continuously improve the plugin in the coming weeks and months:

1. Option to block or limit simultaneous downloading.
2. Dynamic threshold in that it can vary as a function of time. For example, reduce threshold during peal traffic/bandwidth periods.
3. Option to define user-specific thresholds. For example, lower thresholds for trial users.
4. And, much much more...

We are also looking to partner with other businesses - in particular, web hosts. See here: PS Partnership. One adult web host in particular is making between $300 and $500 per month from distributing PS. Not a huge amount by any means, but free money.
