How to transfer Mini DV
I have no fire wire port on my computer and I am in need of transferring the video to my computer....Is there a docking station or another way that this can be done?

There are a few adapters out there, but reviews are mixed as to whether they even work or not. If you don't need the transfer to be digital, does your camera have a composite (analog) output? If so, you can run that straight into a cheap USB video capture device to get it onto your computer.
If you have a desktop, you can get a firewire card for ~$20 or if you have a laptop, you can get a PCMCIA firewire card for about ~$20. If you don't have a desktop or laptop with PCMCIA, you can always get an external DVD burner that has a firewire input and burn your video straight to DVD (then capture to your computer), but they are expensive. |
I have an easy solution that works great. It is a device that connects the camera and computer via usb. I transferred about 200 mini dv cassettes with it to hard drive.
