Best course of action? someone is posting nude pics of a friend of mine. she is distraught
 

he is making profiles on social sites...putting up her naked pictures.

they used to date...now he is pissed i guess

anyway...besides contacting the social sites to have the profile removed...is there a legal course of action she can take?

he is an american....now living in the usa.

i have his name....his ex wifes name and address..not that that will help i guess.

Not sure what can be done legally although more and more places are starting to do laws against that stuff.

She could file a lawsuit seeking injunctive relief, which, if granted, could force him to take down the pictures. She might also seek an injunction against the company hosting the website.

If she does file a lawsuit, she can seek damages, including fees and costs, but that doesn't guarantee that she will receive an award of damages.

Nothing you can really do with regard to the law side of things. She doesn't have a copyright claim and it's not content that is particularly sensitive.

If this were my position - and I know that, given she's upset about it, it might not be a great idea - but I'd post those pictures on /r/Gonewild and link him to the thread. If she's confident about herself and doesn't want him to win, what better way than to have her parade herself and get a ton of compliments from multiple people? It might boost her self-esteem and the reality is, those pictures are already available.

I'd double down and push my stack.

- A knock on the door by the authorities outta do it.
- Calling his place of employment and telling them what he's doing will make him stop too.
- Calling his Mom, Dad, sisters, Family and letting them know what he's up to will do it. The women in his family will freak out seeing what he's doing.
- Making photocopies of his picture with some very bad text and posting it EVERYwhere, his neighborhood, the parking lot of his work, will do it too.

If he took the pics, he owns the copyright not her. You may be able to get him to stop somehow, but not with a copyright claim.

Guys feel powerful and are abusive when it comes to women, but if a man contacts him he'll stop.

When my sister broke up with her longtime fiance he left 3 hours of abusive voicemails (youre a cunt, a ugly pig, etc) and threatened her in the voicemails too. He stalked her, drove around her house, showed up at her church and wouldnt leave, etc.

I told him I would dedicate my life to making sure that everyone knows what a pig he is and he'd never get another job again. He wouldn't be at war with her anymore, he'd be at war with me.

He stopped right away. I think hearing from a man is like cold water to the face and makes him feel threatened himself and stop.

Buy his full name for domain, make some initial nasty posts, seo the fuck out of it then send him a link. You can get godaddy domains or namecheap for pretty cheap. I think namecheap comes with free privacy.

If he still does not stop I have some other ideas. Strictly internet related.

My guess is if you are successful it will deepen your relationship with her and make a better business partner relationship. She will work hard to help you would be my guess.

You may also wish to post his full name and email addresses all over China. Say he did some bad stuff in China and to Chinese people. Talk about a flash mob...

I don't know the laws in the states, but around here you need more then copyright, you need consent.

She is in China, pics were taken there by him presumably, at the time she was all in, so consent to some extent was given, and now he is posting them everywhere like an asshole, so a lawyer is the best immediate action to check your options.
