Do You Use LinkedIn?
 

I have a profile for business purposes and get connection requests from people who have pretty much nothing in common with me. Some are folks obviously looking to connect with everyone so they can spam, but others (that I usually ignore) seem to be using the platform like a dating site. lol


What do you use it for?

OY, I hate the place , dont get anything out of it, but everyone endorsing you etc, its a circle jerk :winkwink:

I'll put my faith in it then. CJ sites used to feed me and put a roof over my head :thumbsup

I use it to check references of who I'm dealing with as well as who they are dealing with. It's more valuable for mainstream than adult I think. I didn't really explore the adult businesses on LinkedIn that much so I could be mistaken. :2 cents:

I started using it again the beginning of this year but it was taking too much of my time with email notifications even though I turned them all off. Also people kept on emailing me to endorse them..it was getting out of hand so I deleted my account. :2 cents:

I log on probably once a month, yawn, and log back off.

I use it a lot, actually pay for a membership there and easily worth it.

However, I do get a TON of spam and stupid requests. Most of the people in my network (700+) are in my industry or close, but like today, I got a request from some random Indian based development firm and accepted it... moments later I get a call from someone who can barely speak English trying to get me to have them do web dev, design, SEO and SEM :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Most people I work with are small to mid-size biz, so they are almost all there and I can see who it is I'm talking to :winkwink:

decent for mainstream corporate world. always job offers, and I would say some people spam, but most are just trying to network. If they have nothing in common no need to accept. But if they have some things in common but you dont know them, i wouldnt knock it. who knows what you might find. its typically business related. Thats what its meant for. Connections. It is meant for you to connect with people you dont know to expand your network.

if you know how to use it, can be quite rewarding business through there.

I use it to give the impression that we are a decent non adult related company.

Linkedin can be very useful when you need to find more information about your potential customers. Plus i personally connected to many people i was then doing business with.

I use it more for my mainstream ventures than anything. It's actually pretty useful.

Just wanted to drop in more of my :2 cents:

I pay $25/mo. for a premium profile, mainly to attract people and easier to get in contact with others.

I got an inmail from someone last week and just closed a deal with them today. The revenue from their company alone will pay for this for the next 30 years :winkwink:

Point being, it's a tool that a lot of places uses to search for people and businesses. You would be surprised just who is all on there and what a "personal" touch can do when trying to get in the door with someone.

I hate the place... they keep sending me some stupid emails every day...

I use for mainstream things; for adult is just to spy manwin pages or such. The real issue is the endorsing, you spend most of the time endorsing skills of guys, also I got endorsed for a number of skills I have not, this is totally stupid.

I agree with the endorsements. Apparently I have many "skills" that I had no idea I had!:1orglaugh

You can delete the things you are endorsed for if they are not applicable. I do that frequently.

I use Linkedin i have a good amount of " Industry" contacts on there, i found it to be useful for networking and some business too. It can be confusing, but wouldn't overlook it! Hey Jenni! ;)

For adult there is no realy need for it,you can easily contact almost anyone here.

Hi Eddie! Yes, in your case it makes purrfect sense with using the site, especially to check out perspective candidates.

I find decent b2b processing contacts, I try to avoid adding the obvious porn performer requests only because they have creepy fans who think everyone the performer is linked to is in porn so I get stupid messages.

For adult, it can be used for networking mainly and contacts.

Mainstream, it's a huge site for prospecting, jobs, networking, and such. The whole I endorse you thing is a fucking joke though. Had people I used to work endorse me and I was like, big whoop. Please, no one in the mainstream world will hire someone because they endorse someone. Billion dollar site though can't be doing much wrong.

Absolutely use it daily.... being a Mainstream IT guy it is a must to have and know how to work it.

You will get some spam ... but, Business is about making connections and knowing what your connections, partners and competitors are up to.

You can make serious paper from a few good connections ...
