There is a HUGE difference between having heavy weapons (or heavy weapons ammo) lying around at home or having access to using it in the army. For one thing, in the army you are usually supervised and trained. They also tend to being a bit obsessed about where their weapons are at, so you don't much get to take you 50 cal on RR.
