It's 2013 and weekends still exist.
Do you take weekends off? Do you think they should exist?
It seems like a pretty damn archaic system, still putting the whole world on hold once a week because God did. |
Work in a factory 20 years and do the same action. You thank God for the weekend. :D
|
Weekends are irrelevant when work your own hours..:)
|
If I take days off it's always during the week because stores are less busy and less traffic... Weekends do seem like a strange concept when you've been running your own business for a long time though.

More reasons I can not see. |
I try to take sunday off.
|
Nope...just another day!
If I have work to do, or shooting to do...whatever day of the week it is, is pretty much irrelevant! |
I do what I want, when I want. So long as the kids agree.
|
I had no idea it was Sunday this morning until someone told me :-S

They shouldn't exist

For example, the music/club industry. It's like pulling teeth getting people into a club on a Monday and then you can't fit them all in on Friday. Think of the 9-5 people. Theoretically, no 9-5 / M-F worker can utilize any 9-5 / M-F service, ever. |
i also dont like the mandatory holidays off....working away and then wham..oh its a holiday lets drop everything and sit in traffic with other slobs..lol
if i take a holiday its when i want. i typically will slack one day during the week and try to work as much as possible around my kids schedule now |
Working today my company year end is due this coming week.
|
The first ten years of running my own company - yeah, weekends seemed irrelevant. I worked through many of them anyways.
These days, though...working a second 9-5er - I look forward to the weekends if only for the opportunity to spend time with the wife, family and friends. |
I always take my "weekends" during the actual week (if my S.O.'s schedule permits).
Way fewer crowds for trips, hiking, camping, etc. Easier to get restaurant seats, movies less crowded, these days if I ever have to do anything recreational on an actual Fri or Sat I'm amazed with how much bullshit people put up with. |
I always fine it funny when people get excited about the weekends. For me weekends are when my family tries to drag me away from my computer.
|
I just do it differently on weekends. First, I don't log into ICQ unless I really need to or am asked to for some reason. Second, I don't use an alarm clock (usually I wake before the alarm anyway but still it's nice to rest more if the body wants it). Third, I don't keep a set schedule like I do on week days. I may work in the morning for an hour or two, then sit on my ass or do chores for 8 hours, then work a bit more etc. Just take it more easy.
|
I never understood why businesses will be closed on Sundays or will open late / close early when everyone has that day off and uses it to get shit done..
|
Just because of the way my schedule is including friends' and girlfriend's day off Sunday has become a typical work day for me. I take Saturday off and a couple of half days during the week.

Good news for their competition I guess. |

Weekends have been non-existent for the past few years, recently though im trying to down tools on the weekend and enjoy a couple of days off, always end up checking emails or something a few times tho. Days off are important!
|
If you're working in a company for 5 days and 40 hrs per week, you'll wish for a weekend break. But if you're the one running the business, since you wanted more profit you'll pray there are no rest at all. :)

Don't know if you guys have this in the US etc but in the UK there are laws about retailers opening on sundays -
https://www.gov.uk/trading-hours-for-retailers-the-law If you're a large shop you can get fined for staying open on a sunday past a certain time! That will help our economy out... don't let anyone work :upsidedow |
