Cop who shot 18-year-old 9 times charged with second degree murder

Excellent. There was no reason for him to execute him like that. The first few bullets were bad enough, but to pump a bunch more in him while he was motionless on the ground was murder any way you look at it.

here's hoping they go after his accomplices

blackmonsters 08-19-2013 08:33 AM

I'm sure this case will fall apart if he has a facebook page where he made a gang sign.

:2 cents:

I realize that this is Canada, not the United States. But do you guys know the difference between first and second degree murder?

In Canada it is any murder which is not first degree murder.

First degree murder is:

was planned and deliberate
was contracted
was committed against an identified peace officer
while committing or attempting to commit the hijacking of an aircraft
while committing or attempting to commit sexual assault
while committing or attempting to commit sexual assault with a weapon
while committing or attempting to commit aggravated sexual assault
while committing or attempting to commit kidnapping and forcible confinement
during a hostage taking
while committing criminal harassment
was committed during terrorist activity
while using explosives in association with a criminal organization
while committing intimidation.

Yeah, but who pays the jury to be stupid enough to buy into that garbage?

How many of the 9 shots hit the suspect?

Making the choice to cause a living thing's life to go away is murder any way you look at it, doesn't really matter how many bullets.

i hear ya. a fancy lawyer can sell sky in the pie to a jury. reasonable doubt, etc, jurors get bogged down with the the myth that law is intimidating.

Bryan G 08-19-2013 10:27 AM

They had to charge him. There is no debating this was murder. However, it will go to trial and he will get off without a doubt. Fucking cops always do.

Bryan G 08-19-2013 10:30 AM

Also had this not been caught on video there would be no charges.

Yeah, like when a criminal robs a bank in the states and one of the numb skulls shots someone .

slapass 08-19-2013 10:33 AM

Did you watch the video? After the nine shots the police move to enter the bus and then stop and raise their guns again. Their was like 4 officers who were right next to him. I think the police video is going to show a more menacing image based on the police actions.

pornguy 08-19-2013 10:33 AM

No. he is doing 2 years. Min.

He had no reason to shoot other than the fact that the kid did exactly what he was told not to do.

If he is convicted of 2nd degree and that is a big if. He's still won't do the same time as I would if I were to be convicted. It's also comical that this piece of shit is still getting paid while on suspension.

MrBottomTooth 08-19-2013 10:45 AM

I thought I read a second degree murder conviction means no chance of parole for 10 years, but I am not sure exactly how that works.... if it is possible to get out sooner for whatever reason.

Shots fired and shots that hit are 2 different things. Just curious.

just a punk 08-19-2013 11:22 AM

I always thought this kind of murder is a usual thing for the USA, but CANADA? WTF?
