Question for those that set goals?
Do you give yourself a reward once you meet a goal?
Example: Complete Project XYZ by August 25, buy new COD game and controller |
I beat my dick like it owes me money

I already have everything I care to own.
But, right now I'm saving for a new place. My goal/self reward is a new house. :) |
I set penalties for failing to reach a goal and a 'bonus reward' for significantly exceeding the goal.
Reaching the goal is what I'm supposed to do... Instances where you do much better or worse than the goal are useful moments of motivation |

Sometimes I set rewards, but they are usually pretty minor motivation, as compared to the attaining the goal itself.

Escort should be here any moment :1orglaugh

Yes - we gotta train ourselves with carrots and sticks.

hah, nice, i was thinking of starting a goals/rewards thread because recently i achieved a few goals that i had attached some pretty significant rewards to- they were that important.
but after hitting them, i was more turned on about hitting the goals and everything that meant, that the reward was simply a material thing (yawn, really) and not as rewarding as reaching the goals. first time that has happened to me and i am very big on goals/rewards. very. :1orglaugh |
For me most the time the rewards are just taking part of a day off and having fun.
Say I set a goal to finish up a project by a certain day. If I finish on time, if it is early in the day, I will call it a day and relax the rest of the day. If it is late I will take part of the next day off if possible. It isn't a big thing, but it feels good kicking back with a cold beer, some pizza and watching a game when you know you just reached a goal. |

major ones...are there..because it will take some time to accomplish. the bentley for instance is a prize for myself after several other minor goals. minor goals/gifts for myself are typically a game of golf..etc |

There is not a single successful person who's not a lucky idiot who doesn't set goals.
|
reaching your goal, isnt it same like reward ?
|
I have a bottle of Adelphi's Liddesdale Islay whiskey waiting for when the next goal is achieved.
|
Depends as often times the reward is completing the goal itself.
|
I drink until I fall down,damn Tequila

Well, ya have to define success, before you can be sure you achieved it. |
