Controversial, don't think the general public obviously wouldn't dig it

ottopottomouse 08-25-2013 11:25 PM

I'm wondering now if they were set a specific theme for the video as part of an exam as I've seen others that were about running hitler over too.

Markul 08-25-2013 11:33 PM

That was AWESOME! Thanks for sharing!

stoka 08-26-2013 03:06 AM

hitler is driving it, right? %)

DVTimes 08-26-2013 03:27 AM

My point is that many german car firms did well from adalf hitler as he provided them with free staff (ie jews) to build the cars.

So merc would not run him over.

Lets stop pretending that adalf is this bad guy. after all most of the war usa kissed his ass. and even when at war most first traded with germany. even coca cola made fanta (i think it was fanta) to sell to germany as they did not want to be selling them coca cola.

all the banks madfe a fortune dealing with nazi cash.

so no, a merc would never run him over.

DVTimes 08-26-2013 03:30 AM

by the way usa car firms also used jewish slaves too such as ford and so on (in germany).

until now i thought you are just a little slow and a little weird - i take back the "little" and replace slow with stupid

and at least learn to spell his name right - it's Adolf

and btw - you have not understood the whole thing at all

It wouldn't be smart to show an ad of your car running over a kid, even if it is a future mass murderer. It's also pretty arrogant to say that your car can go back in time and predict who will start World War 2.

L-Pink 08-26-2013 06:25 AM

While my German is pretty weak, my English isn't. That's not a Mercedes produced commercial.

have you seen it?

it says throughout the whole clip that it is a film school submission and in no way affiliated with Mercedes Benz. In english.

Mr. Stiff 08-26-2013 08:42 AM

haha epic spoof!!

Adalf.. Omg.. time to go back to school??

marcop 08-26-2013 08:46 AM

That was really good... thanks for sharing.

I like how I had to do a little work to figure out exactly what was going on.

Great advertising for shitty technology.

Fuel Cell cars run on Hydrogen. Hydrogen is found in water (the H in H2O). This requires that it be separated from water in a process called electrolysis which takes a shitload of energy to do. Once done its in a gaseous state so it has to be cooled to very low temperature and stored at very high pressure (10k lbs per square inch!) just to fit it into a tank small enough to fit an SUV like the one in the ad which again, requires a shitload of energy. This means that Fuel cell technology has a massive carbon footprint.

You have to get your car fueled at stations that carry the fuel which of course gets there by big-ass tanker trucks carrying super-compressed super-cold hydrogen which again requires alot of energy.

Most of the energy required to make Hydrogen comes from diesel, coal, or natural gas.

Fuel cells themselves are not nearly as "clean" as batteries as they contain rare (expensive) metals like rhodium and platinum.

Electric cars are the ONLY way to go. Ads that push fuel cell cars make me laugh.
