I found a list of LA adult talent agencies that I used around 2006-08. About 75% are gone now... for those who are nostalgic for the good times, here's a list of the fallen:

Dick did his share as well. In fact he used to shack some of them up in his apartment and then later drive them around finding work getting himself booked with them.

If I remember correctly, Spiegler once sent a girl over to his place to do some Polaroids. But Dick got her to do a video under the pretense of "showing the producer". I think Spiegler got mad and made Dick pay her for it.


As for Regan Senter perhaps Spallone can name a flavor of ice cream after him.

AFAIK, Dick didn't actually shoot videos, but he certainly banged a lot of the girls he repped as he claimed he needed to know they could do a good scene before he sent them to shoots, as it would reflect badly on him if they couldn't. When I first met him in 2000, he was getting girls' numbers on sets, and booking shoots around their agents. In 2002/03 he took the obvious, next step and started Nasty Modeling. Porn star Katie Morgan worked for him for the first few years.

i know some certain producers who did this for many years - i find this pretty disgusting and it's no wonder that a lot of people consider us scum... :2 cents:

*IF* I remember again correctly I met him by a mutual contact at tasteless where he was shooting for them. But I believe your right in that he wasn't known for being a director. But I'm certain that if there was a dollar to be made Dick and his suv were waiting probably around the corner. I'm sure he was the master of being the $100 dollar gangbang male pornstar.

Now I didn't have a lot of dealings with Dick, in fact very little. However I never had a problem with him. He was actually very much a gentleman and as far as porn industry standards are concerned, he was more or less professional. Just the same I still wonder whatever happen to those "needed to know they could do a good scene" videos he had.

Over the years there's always a handful of people you end up wondering about. For me Dick Nasty was one of them. Not that when I visited Los Angeles I ever did anything more than business as fast as possible and leave as quick as possible. It's just that in so many ways Dick Nasty just seemed to me to be out of place in the porn valley.

Were most of these actual businesses or glorified pimps?

Pimps are at least in some way part of this business. They find women, bring them to set, make sure they're ready to work, etc. Personally I don't care if the gentleman is a glorified pimp or business just as long as I'm not hearing rumors that he is forcing the lady to do porn in order to support his drug addiction or find other women to sleep with him.

It's the asshole that does nothing but find ways to make a dollar without ever getting directly involved in this industry that's a problem. And there's a lot of that going on these days.

As for having sex with the talent, I'm sure that 95% of the producers and agents are guilty of it. The only question is about how they went about it...
Did they promise the lady something and not deliver?
Did they pay her outright??
Or did they actually find her work like Dick did??

In my situation I always paid the lady outright. It was less than what I pay for an actual scene but I'm also not going to be screwing her for 3 hours under hot lights. On a good day I loose interest after 20 minutes.

This is porn and so if anyone wants to deal only with legitimate business then I suggest they start filling out job applications. :2 cents:

Jeez, how could I forget Pretty Girl? They moved from WeHo to Van Nuys in 2004 when their landlord wanted to renovate the building they'd been in for years. Reb's son, Shane, took over the agency after Reb retired, but he didn't last long--maybe a year. They were the first adult agency, and were open for business even before World Modeling... and World opened in 1976.

Dick shot for Tasteless and for another company (Heatwave?), and he'd shoot really cheap as all he really cared about was banging chicks. I paid him $100/scene for a few years before I felt guilty about it and doubled his pay. He was/is a full on sex addict... he'd fuck the girls he repped because he couldn't stop himself, even though most of the girls hated it and him, and would leave his agency as soon as they could.

Dick ended up in a big financial mess here, and disappeared back to South London as his creditors closed in. We actually grew up just a few miles from each other, though I didn't know him there. I called him on his birthday last year, and he was driving in the South of France, where he'd often go to celebrate his birthday. He seemed like he was doing fine, and I'm sure he's still enjoying life, smoking expensive cigars, and banging a lot of women.

Reb and Shane ! Because you mentioned Reb's son I think I might have heard of you. You are the gentleman that has (or had) a cardboard cut out of his cat and you film(ed) in Santa Monica.

It has been a long time since I was in the L.A. area and the last time I saw Reb (and his son). Shane did what I guess would be a 5 minute stand up comedy about you getting upset that you could not find your cat during a shoot.

It was not insulting but it did have me laughing. I have always said to be able to last in porn a person needs to be either a character in some way or a complete asshole. It is nice to say that it is always a pleasure to meet the characters in this industry.

Yes, that's me. I still have the cat and two cardboard cutouts: an 18 inch one, and a 5'4" one (see below). And I'm still regularly updating the cat's website--see sig.
