who here actually came from the gutter
who here never touched a computer till you bought it using your burger king paycheck. And is successfull, like owning a big program or making a good living off it?
i am pretty sure most of us in here either had thier family, friends, or government (welfare) pay for the computer and internet. |
Actually I have never left the gutter :glugglug

ghetto is more of a mentality rather than your surrounding..there have been many great things that have come from the slums..and no im not talking about rappers who make it big

hmmph.
this thread really made me think for a minute. i grew up in a rough neighborhood... and it was dilapidated and crime ridden... But never thought of it as the gutter. I knew it could always be worse... Like 3rd world countries our family's came from...etc. I didn't have a computer and internet access till I "produced" one outta my surrounding schools and small businesses. I'd really like to see who in this biz really came from low or no income situations, and really made it. And aren't scheeming ass muthafuckas today. still :stoned |
Damn Ducky!
Props To You! :stoned |

My father bought the very best computer avaliable here in 1993 (386 + HP Laser Printer... can't remember the model, but it's still working and is the best one he got at his job) for $3000 with an loan from my uncle. We didn't have money to buy a floppy box... so we were buying floppies disk per disk :(
Before this the only computer I've touched was an MSX in school. I started playing games and drawing in paint brush (win 3.1) and corel draw 3.0, playing with ms dos and stuff. My father was in a computer school and bought some books, so I just watched him using the programs and I started learning. At home I have computers since 1995 I believe and internet since 1996. I started using Hot Dog at school in 1996, and there I made my very first HTML page. The rest is history :) |

Internet was very expensive in 1996/97/98. Some months I paid about $400 (ISP + phone bill).
And now some guys are bitching because ADSL is about $31 or trying to find cheaper ISPs than $8.50 :321GFY |
