Watch out for the Adult Friend Finder scam
 

I joined up back around 1999 or 2000. At one point, they told me I was one of their top 10 affiliates.
Over the years, I earned well over $100K. Sites came and went. A few years at a stretch here and there, I made very little. Sometimes more.

Earlier this year, I started getting "payment declined" because I had not submitted a tax form they need. So I went to my account on the AFF site to fix it.

Every time I went to bring up the form, I got "Your browser connection has been reset".

After a few weeks/months of this, I contacted Support and got the response "We're working on it".

I kept checking back and checking back. Then I got an email saying my account would be killed if I did not provide the form. I emailed again and got no answer at all. I realise now I should have taken it more seriously.

So I contacted them again - via Kalyn on this very message board.

I have now been told that they have no record of my recurrings or my pending payment. All they can offer is for me to set up a new account and they will double the commission for a while. Forget about the recurring.

To me, this is clearly a case of a money-grab. I sold my most recent site a couple of years ago and was getting mostly recurring since. So what do they have to lose by cutting me off? Not much.

Beware of these fuckers! They have just cost me $1000s!

If you were a top 10 affiliate didn't you go on any of the trips they have? I would think they would know all their top 10's personally.

That was back in 2000/2001 or thereabouts and it was just what I was told. I don't know if it was true. I remember they sent some gifts, but it's a looong time ago.

Yes they were. I have supplied these forms before too. Just this time, I couldn't, because it wasn't accessible to me. I told them. They said they were working on it, but it wasn't fixed before my account was closed.

Not suspended, but closed completely, with all data obliterated as well. Without giving me a chance to fill it in.

Maybe if I had gone looking for the form earlier it would have been there. Or maybe not. They had a deadline which I tried to meet. Couldn't (because of their website) and they deleted me.

Nothing against you tho, so dont take this personally or anything, but those numbers really make no sense.

It shouldn't be that hard to understand. "At one point" means at a single point in time. Besides, it was my AFF manager who told me. As I have since discovered, their ethics are somewhat lacking, so it may have been a lie.

I'm buying into the "this is how capitalism works. We have the power to screw you over because it is too expensive to chase after unless you can prove it's a million bucks (and even then it's probably just a break-even scenario)".

On the flip side, I can tell my story of the thieving ways of Adult Friend Finder to anyone who'll listen/read. Until they hit me with a cease and desist. When/if they do, I will be forced to stop only because they have truckloads of money and I don't.

Had the same problem, no a top 10 earner though. Fuck em.

Same problem for me, my 10 years old account was closed, got no answers to my emails or any way to contact them, seems a "nice" way to keep all our recurring money.

I understand freezing the account until papers are received, but deleting it, with all the stats etc? come on, that is just plan thieving.

There have been a lot of complaints about this which means it's happening. But I haven't read a case yet where someone really made a big effort to get the tax information to them and contact them. I'm a little sympathetic to richard123 but even he says "I realise now I should have taken it more seriously."

My rep has always answered me within a business day. And they even publish phone numbers to reach them at should your email not get through. If you have thousands you earn from them and you can't bother in a year to make a phone call to them then it's hard to take your side.

Aff is heavily bureaucratized company so it's nothing unusual things like this happen.

AFF doesn't do business with honor. I've recently had some very major issues as well where they didn't honor a contract. They don't care, their attitude is so sue us.

Rikard, I received your email and forwarded it to a manager to see if there is anything we can do to help. Please, please make sure that your contact info in your account is up to date. Many of our managers actually called their affiliates to make sure the paperwork was done in time.

As for waiting for something online to be finished, that seems strange to me. You just needed to go to the government website to grab a W9 (or W8BEN)form and email or fax it to us when completed. If you have any questions at all in future, please don't hesitate to call our office directly.
