He's a pussy that talks first and thinks second and never stops campaigning.. He said he believes he has the authority to attack, yet him and Biden spent years arguing that's not the case. Further Britain already voted against it. This was a pussy move but he did it to himself. The risk of congress voting no has massive implications for lunatic regimes and fundamentalists everywhere and will yet again embolden Russia and others to thumb their noses at he USA . The response should have been immediate and severe.

Yet again he painted himself onto a corner and left himself no good options and will again look weak no matter what

Vendzilla 08-31-2013 11:10 AM

Barry just wants someone else to take the blame later, like Congress

brassmonkey 08-31-2013 11:16 AM

TheSquealer 08-31-2013 11:17 AM

Can't wait for Assad to fall so Hezbollah and Al Queda can finally have a country to call their own. The opposition has been losing and all but defeated. This is why there can't be anything more than a symbolic response... Letting Assad know what will be targeted on advance

TheSquealer 08-31-2013 11:23 AM

and congress will vote against it, as they do everything he brings to them -- and they'll blame him later for not taking action.

TheSquealer 08-31-2013 11:39 AM

I don't agree with that but basically he painted himself more and more into a corner each time it came up. Now he's giving himself a way out and a way of not taking responsibility for a strike or not. Either he will say he was carrying out the will of the people and congress or he will say "the people have spoken and their message has been heard, loud and clear" or some other safe bullshit.

This guy should never be allowed to talk without a prompter - ever.

So is there an emergency meeting of congress or do we wait for their drunk asses to shuffle in after the holiday weekend?

So we aren't THAT upset civilians are "being gassed". Just pointing out the absurdity of the situation. If war lines are crossed immediately smack them. Don't announce you are getting together later and vote on it.

They want you to know its extremely urgent - and just as soon as the last keg is finished and the jet skis are out of gas and the last steak has been grilled - they will get right on it

This whole thing is so bad on so many levels that I can't decide who or what to mock first

Captain Kawaii 08-31-2013 12:00 PM

The US just needs a few more days for evidence fabrication against Assad. I agree with Putin on this one. Funny little back-handed compliment he gave to Brits.

We in America are so outraged we may or may not do something in a week or so after we vote on it.

Sly 08-31-2013 12:13 PM

Frankly I think we need to vote on whether we should vote first. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Hell, I might even be getting ahead of myself on this one. Should we have a meeting first to discuss whether or not we should vote on a vote? We don't want to waste anyone's time with a vote on a vote if it's not necessary.

suesheboy 08-31-2013 12:14 PM

Remember the last time there were weapons of mass destruction.

Waiting for congress is the right thing. If congress fucks it up, vote them all out. Plain and simple.

Robbie 08-31-2013 12:14 PM

Constitutionally he HAS to ask Congress.

And I hope that cooler heads prevail and Congress says "no".

The last thing the United States Of America needs to do is bomb another Muslim country. :(

TheSquealer 08-31-2013 12:16 PM

Here's the thing Richard, I don't want to go war with another country.

Is there a part of that you don't understand?

Barry has been sending drones without Congress into other countries, a lot of them, but now he wants a scapegoat

America doing for some interest? :)

I've been watching Al Jazeera America news channel the last couple of weeks.

They report stuff that CNN, FOX, and MSNBC do not.

For instance last night as they ran down the news stories of the day one of them was: 5 dead in drone attack in Pakistan

I saw that and thought...wow, we just killed 5 people in another sovereign nation with our drones. And nobody here blinks an eye over it. :(

Can anyone here even imagine what the reaction would be if another country sent a drone into the U.S. and killed 5 of our citizens with it?

And we do it everyday.

I don't think history is going to look at what our govt. has been doing with ANY favor at all.

I love the U.S. , but I HATE the federal govt. and what it has become over the decades.

To all of you people outside the U.S., you should know that the shit our govt. does has nothing to do with how the people here really are.
Our govt. now has so many people here dependent and they keep us all fat, happy, and totally misinformed (just look at how aggressively they go after "whistle blowers")

mikesinner 08-31-2013 01:28 PM

I think there is more of a chance that congress will vote to bomb Syria but there is still a possibility we might get out of this.

I got pissed when they wanted to give drone operators medals.
I have a medal, I earned that thing and giving it out to playstation jockey's that never left the comfort and security of a US base really pissed me off.

I served the country because I thought it was the right thing to do. I was put in danger. During the Iran Crisis, I was in between the fleet and Iran punching holes in the ocean. Sending in troops because of some ass hats ego over political reasons is NOT good enough.

Civilian wounded 2009-2011:12,431 for Afghanistan

It just pisses me off all the people that voted for Barry because they said they were tired of the wars that Bush started, even though Barry promised he was going to be sending more troops to Afghanistan. That's when I made up my mind I didn't like him!

Now Barry is placing threats of war on Assad and he is laughing about it. Sure he is killing his own people, but if we go in, we're going to kill a lot more of them.

Phoenix 08-31-2013 02:52 PM

If they had taken the money spent in iraq/afghan and put it into a some hard sciences. A research university or even just Nasa. I bet we would be looking at some pretty cool returns. However all there is just more war and hardship.

:2 cents:

They report so much shit that goes on, you can't help but be sympathetic to those trying to cause harm to Americans. Every bomb that gets dropped, every life taken, creates a new enemy.

The US creates more enemies by doing this, every single day. They are fueling the fire, bomb by bomb. It's sickening.

And you are spot on, imagine this happening on US soil, EVERY DAY. It would breed a hatred so great for the attackers that half of the US would sign up to try to kill them, however they had to. Of course, the attackers would then call those people "insurgents" but in reality they are freedom fighters and heroes who are fighting a foreign invader.

Drone strike my house, kill my family, then see what I will spend the rest of my life trying to do to you and your people. It won't be pretty, and I'd probably be happy to die in the process of destroying you.

Tom_PM 08-31-2013 03:26 PM

The war powers act should give him the go ahead without congress, but some in congress were already crying about it so he no doubt is appeasing them which he didn't have to do, and does too often. Clinton used it, Reagan used it, Bush used it and Obama has used it already. Let them vote though, no reason not to. Let them go on the record where they all stand ahead of time. It's brilliant, but it's politics which is never clean is it.

fogfever 08-31-2013 03:30 PM

Wasting more money on wars.
Do you know the last time China had a war - decades ago.. why is it our job to spend money to stabilize Syria?

in fact european countries are sinking and we don't have ressources like the USA, so the only solution is to control these ressources, and russia is wide. Russia is the real goal imo.
In think that putin understand that syria could weaken russian's south side and everything that finishes with *stan...
