Wow, Obama said this? Fox News

I really can't believe Obama said this.

"We may or may not be upset. Please give me a week to consult with my friends in Congress. If we decide that we are upset, be warned, we will wreak havoc! But if we decide that we are not upset, sorry for the trouble, we hope you have a nice weekend."

Honestly. I'm not surprised at all.
I long ago faced the facts that Obama was able to do things by "floating the middle".
I could criticize him, but it's not like there is really a choice. His choice is to win.
Obama is not in any position to "win" with a solo opinion.
But is that new? When Bush said he would go it alone, did that turn out perfect? No.

Actually Bush didn't "go it alone".

There was a coalition of countries. But as always...it's the U.S. with the most shit involved.

And both houses of Congress voted for it too. They are all idiots. :(

CDSmith 08-31-2013 12:56 PM

It's a catch22 going in and he knows it. America is a fickle bunch when it comes to their president, and the rest of the world is a fickle bunch about America.

People are constantly saying "yeah? Well what would McCain have done? What would Romney have done?" when the real question might be "after 2016, what will HILLARY do?"

:D

fitzmulti 08-31-2013 01:00 PM

Maybe that was code to the troops, to blast the fuck out of Syria...

More like:

"The majority may or may not be upset. Please give me a week to consult with my friends in Congress. If the majority decides that we are upset, be warned, we will wreak havoc! But if we decide that most of us are not upset, sorry for the trouble, we hope you have a nice weekend."

SilentKnight 09-01-2013 08:16 AM

To paraphrase:

"We will embrace this attack on Syria. Support it from our lands in the north. I will gain American favor by condemning it, and ordering it opposed from our lands in the south."

I'm not the biggest Obama fan myself, but this is all just too rich.

If he'd decided to go ahead & strike Syria without Congressional approval, the GOP and pretty much everyone else who doesn't like him would be frothing at the mouth. But now when he actually tries to build some kind of consensus before taking action, people start going on and on about how "weak" and "indecisive" he is.

Because truth is most people have a fucking stupid agenda and ideology with their personal ego all wrapped up in it, so they will twist any event to suit that worldview. No matter what the president does, those people will find fault because they're psychologically invested in his failure.

I believe this is more of a layman's translation. A pretty precise one.

The United States and Britain had secretly deployed troops onto Syrian soil months ago. They've prepared laser positions for their guided missile bombing blitz. The coalition consists of France, Britain and Israel including a large contingent of United States drones. Obama is certain congress will approve his declaration of war proposal against Syria.

the united states was going to strike bushedr, where is the evidence regarding that? the iranians just want to create peaceful nuclear power they don't want to hurt anyone, their president and his anti-israel/zionist rants are always taken out of context and blown way out of proportion by an american media just looking to help start the next war.

i thought israeli leaders were saying shit like oh this has to be done now this is an international emergency but no one has said shit!

you won't see the united states stay the hell out because it is the illuminati who are the powers-that-be of that country and this is ultimately zionism, you either like it or lump it. i am not the illuminati, i would hate to be an illuminati.

Yes, it is pretty funny how the conversation keeps changing. First it was he is a horrible President because he wasn't going to include Congress. He's including Congress so they move onto something else.

These days it seems like the only thing the right is capable of doing is crying wolf. :1orglaugh
