Question for the UK Folks

Watching "Silk" and they have a case on "cottaging"

Why the heck do they call that cottaging? Rent boys and public toilets?
Eddy? Anyone?

I'll never rent a cottage again.

UK English

Maybe their public toilets look like cottages.

Can't hardly read an English murder mystery without every few pages another term that has me stumped. In days past I had an eldery friend in England I could call up and ask him things like WTF is Take Away? If it's Carry Out then say Carry Out. Actually used in context, Take Away is an easy one. But in Silk they also used the term grassed, a term I just read in an English mystery. Is that good or bad to be grassed by your fellow police officers?

Opportunity: Somebody have a web site a UK to US dictionary with lots of ads

Some of them do, actually. "Cottaging" is not a new term--I remember hearing it in England back in the late 70's.
