Why Don't Porn Sites Accept Bitcoins?

Why don't pay sites accept Bitcoins?

Sly 09-02-2013 04:54 PM

Every paysite in the industry was on track to adding bitcoins as the primary payment option until Franck withdrew his support. After his withdrawal, it was evident that bitcoins would not last.

If you would like to start a new push for bitcoins, I suggest you find a way to bring Franck back into the fold. He is the only one that can pull this off.

PornDude 09-02-2013 04:55 PM

Sorry, Franck who? :)

livexxx 09-02-2013 05:43 PM

surely this should be easy? lots of sites could use the BTC for domainn registrations

adultmobile 09-02-2013 06:10 PM

The question should be: why don't porn customers ask to pay with bitcoins?

jscott 09-02-2013 06:14 PM

MetArt does :thumbsup

Konda 09-02-2013 07:49 PM

- No auto-recurring
- Many paysite owners don't have the technical know-how to add it
- Many paysite owners are too afraid to try something new
- Instability of BitCoin exchange rate
- Many paysite owners just don't have enough knowledge about BitCon and/or don't trust BitCoin

Eman - PG 09-02-2013 08:01 PM

Because bitcoin holders do not join paysites :1orglaugh

You would be surprised... :)

dave90210 09-02-2013 08:16 PM

Ill be honest the only reason why I haven't accepted Bitcoins yet was for verifying the ages of the people who join. Would the honor system of entering the persons age by selecting there birthdate before entering the site be enough?

2MuchMark 09-02-2013 08:44 PM

The main reason is the stability of the value, the exchange rate, and general newness of it. What happens if tomorrow you owe $5000 to an affiliate or model and the value bit coins crashes? Perhaps legally you may still owe that $5k even though you can no longer covert it into usd at the value you expected.

PR_Dave 09-02-2013 09:24 PM

PimpRoll does.

CamDoughCat 09-03-2013 02:03 AM

If you use a payment processor like BitPay you can charge a fixed fee and exchange to USD instantly. So you set it to charge $39.95, it will charge the amount of BitCons that equals $39.95 at that very moment. And you can have it automatically changed to USD right after that, so it doesn't matter what the exchange rate does.

Magnetron 09-03-2013 04:16 AM

For the same reasons they don't accept Net Pond Points.

Feel free to start naming off these dozens of financial banking systems (government, federal, local, regional) or countries across the globe which acknowledge this is a legal, valid, form of currency in any way what-so-ever.

I will be waiting with bells on in the meantime.

Jel 09-03-2013 08:31 AM

well technically you aren't accepting bitcoins. someone else is, and paying you the $ rate for the bitcoins that day.

arock10 09-03-2013 12:14 PM

far more damage can be done by file lockers etc accepting them then porn sites not accepting them. I'd rather not encourage it

#1 reason:

The entire industry has been asleep at the wheel for several years now. Nobody is there to do any work.

JenniDahling 09-03-2013 03:46 PM

It seems that Bitcoin is definitely a great alternative to credit card billing. From the consumer's pov, it gives them the option to purchase items and services without having to have a MC/Visa which is good news for a lot of non-US subscribers.

From a merchant's point of view, the risk is minimal, and the merchant gets paid in real dollars. Also, the fees are way lower than traditional card transactions.

The Ladyboys at www.LadyboyGold.com accept Bitcoins, and so do all the other Islanddollars.com websites :)

DWB 09-04-2013 12:21 PM

We've accepted them for a while. Nothing to write home about, but we see them as sales we wouldn't otherwise get.
