Producers only: Help me pick the next vid camera for me
All video producers:
Appreciate your comments and views on this - we are updating all our equipment and need a solid review on video cameras you think will last us 5+ years and kick ass :) We used our SONY FX-1 for so long and it was a great design, light, sturdy and a workhorse. Since then we have been using random small model CANONS and SONY video cameras but need to get ONE AWESOME ONE to be our new workhorse :D Ideas? Budget under $5000 so don't be recommending a RED to me lol. Thanks all. |
simple the sony ax2000 with the wide angle adaptor.

If you're looking to the future, start considering a 4K camera:
http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langI d=-1&productId=8198552921666597838 My last few video cameras (I buy them in pairs) were Sony's, and I loved them (after having been a Canon video shooter for years). :2 cents: :stoned ADG |

I think it would be smart to film in 4K as the networks are considering to bump it up. Tear.

Future proof, go 4K

Under $5k? I love my Sony FS100. I am going to pick up a used FS700 in the next year, but would definitely recommend the FS100 as it's a great camera and in your price range. You're already familiar with Sony, so it should be an easy fit for you.
I'm going to hold off on 4K for another year or two. My buddy has been waiting on his Blackmagic for months now. The shipping date gets pushed back weekly. |
